Midland Industrial Designers Ltd.
MID was established in 1959, manufacturing Dyris valves. Since then we have expanded our range and have a reputation for producing valves for more exacting applications, special one-off designs and the weird and wonderful.
We've used this extensive knowledge to develop a range of "standard" valves which have many of the innovative features developed for the more specialist applications such as mechanical shaft seals.
Our established quality assurance system (we can trace details of customers' valves right back to 1959) has recently gained 3rd party approval to ISO 9001, a process that formally recognises an extremely effective system that has not changed for more than 5 decades.
Our customers specify MID valves as a "must fit" as part of their plant and with extensive knowledge of applications and processed built up over 50 years we can advise the best and most cost effective solution for your plant.
The TWA can be supplied with 92% alumina ceramic tiled wear parts, supported on a carbon steel substrate held in place mechanically and bonded using a high performance epoxy resin developed especially for ceramic tiles.
To give some idea of relative longevity, MID had one application where a customer was pneumatically conveying extremely fine powdered slate. A "normal" rotary valve with a cast iron body lasted a matter of days before being totally worn out. A ni-hard TWA lasted 6 weeks and came back to MID with holes the size of tennis balls worn into the ni-hard. A ceramic lined TWA lasts 18 months in this application between retiles, and even then they are not worn to the point of failure. The mechanical sealing system, so effective on abrasive products, is often hardly worn at all and can be reused.
We believe we have the ultimate in rotary valve longevity with the TWA.
