MENTOR's range of Standard Electronic Components exceeds 3,000 parts and is divided into eight categories; you will find links to download PDF versions of all eight catalogues on our website, or please e-mail Multitron to request hard copies.

Custom solutions, most especailly in the design and manuafacture of optics and light guides for LEDs are also an important part of MENTOR's offer. Talk to Multitron about MENTOR's electronic component capabilities; we are the manufacturer's main UK supplier to the trade.

Light Guides

MENTOR are experts in the design and manufacture of Light Guides / Light Pipes including single and multiple Bargraph Displays - horizontal and vertical, Flexible Light Guide Systems, Light Guides with embedded LEDs (M-PIPE), Light Guides for Front Panels, Miniature Light Guides for the 2.54mm grid and Light Guide Switches.

MENTOR's standard light guide / light pipe range includes over 450 part numbers, allowing lower-volume projects to exploit the range with little or no tooling cost.

Handles & Knobs

MENTOR is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial handles and control knobs, shipping millions of ultra-high quality equipment handles and enclosure handles, control knobs and turning knobs every year.

Their range of knobs encompasses plastic and aluminium variants, digital or analogue, and modular knobs allowing you to select the knob, cap, nut cover, pointer, pointer dial and base plate. Custom solutions can provide a unique look or dimension, or address special requirements such as dual concentric shafts with push function etc.

MENTOR's range of handles consists of plastic, aluminium , steel and stainless steel variations in types that can be described as “U”, “bow”, bent”, “ledge”, “tray”, “collapsible”, “prop-up” and “modular” handles, amongst others. Hundreds of size, material and colour variations are available as are custom solutions, and even handles with LEDs or illuminated knobs based on existing custom products.

Perhaps the ultimate expression of this combination of technologies is illustrated by the control knob fitted to Gibson’s flagship guitar.

MENTOR Components

It is not always easy to search for some of MENTOR's standard and custom electronic component solutions since they have no generic name and you may not know they even exist!

Multitron have put the spotlight on some of them on our website, including miniature light guides, area light guides, M-Tubes and light guide based 7-segment displays.

Illuminated Switch Caps

An innovative and cost-effective solution to illuminated switching. As “illuminated switch caps” are not a well-known concept, please allow Multitron to tell you how you can exploit them!

The basic principle is to place an SMD tact or dome switch on the PCB with two SMD LEDs immediately adjacent. A square plastic switch cap is pushed onto the switch as a final production process. These two-part plastic caps are special in that their faces are proper light guides, providing totally homogeneous illumination.

THT & SMD Components

MENTOR offer many different types of switches for THT (Through Hole Technology) mounting including toggle and slide switches, push-button switches and rotary switches, plus 7 segment displays, LED display systems and THT component accessories.

This range is complemented by almost all models and types of switch also being offered for SMD (Surface Mount Device) mounting; plus SMD LED display systems and buttons with graphics, front panels and mounting accessories, test jacks, SMD bridges and fuse holders plus Surface Mounted push-button and toggle switches in many colours, shapes and sizes.

Opto Electronics

MENTOR has long been a leader in the art and science of controlling light. Pioneers in designing and manufacturing what today we see as simple front panel indicator lights, infra-red transmitters/receivers and a myriad of innovative bargraph arrays; MENTOR now has hundreds of millions of opto electonics components on the market to prove that they can consistently deliver such functionality.

Custom Light Guides

MENTOR's new 2-D CUSTOM Light Guides / Light Pipes - with no tooling costs and MOQ just 300 pcs - open-up a whole new world to electronic design engineers who strive for something special and different, but do not have the tooling budgets or volumes to justify high-investment custom components.
