Panel Technology Ltd
Panel Technology is a specialist component manufacturer, primarily for the automotive industry. Panel technology Ltd has a wealth of experience in deep drawn parts, 'A surface' panel production, 3D laser cutting and welded body assemblies.
Key processes include the following:
- Double and single action presses from 150 to 750 tonnes
- 6 axis plasma cutting machines
- 5 axis laser cutting
- Spot Welding and CO2 Welding
- Final Assembly
This combination allows Panel Technology to offer a 'one-stop-shop' for low to medium volume pressed body panel components.
Panel Technology is a specialist component manufacturer, primarily for the automotive industry. The company provides single and double action press capacity from 150 to 750 tonnes, and is expert in deep drawn parts, “A Surface” panels and low to medium volume body assemblies. The company has achieved accreditation to the highest automotive quality standards and provides presswork and assemblies to some of the world’s leading brands. Through the technology pioneered and developed on site at Panel Technology Ltd it is able to offer Plasma Cutting as a solution to customers. Please see the ‘Plasma Cutting’ section of this site for more information.
Panel technology Ltd has a wealth of experience in deep drawn parts, “A surface” panel production and welded body assemblies and has a proven track record of quality service to the automotive industry at both 1st and 2nd tier levels. The press shop facility incorporates a range of presses to suit different needs, including double and single action units from 150 to 750 tonnes. Panel Technology also operates multi-axis plasma cutting machines allowing it to offer a “one-stop-shop” for low to medium volume pressed body panel components. These press and trim processes are supported by a CO2 and spot welding capability. Where production volumes are high enough Panel Technology also establishes dedicated weld and assembly cells.
What is Plasma cutting?
Plasma cutting utilises a super heated intense beam of ionised gas to cut metallic substrates. It can cut any size, shape or form up to 2,000mm square with a depth of 800mm, virtually burr and scratch free and accurate to +/- 0.1mm. Programmed by an off line system, the CCT machine can cut formed press panels faster than any other multi-axis system.
The process produces a clean and virtually burr free finish with a robot repeatability of +/- 0.025mm and a trajectory accuracy of +/- 0.1mm.
Plasma technology is ideal for customers requiring low to medium volume solutions (40 to 20,000) that require complex 3D trimming and clipping operations or modifications to components, to provide additional holes or other features that would normally require the job to be retooled in some way.
With that in mind any industry with a need to cut mild or coated steel up to 6mm thick and stainless steel or aluminium up to 4mm thick can be accommodated.
