  1. A TWO-PHASE FORMING PROCESS
    9 March 2020

If there is one vital tool you will need by your side for mould repair operations, it would be high quality neckring profile gauges. We are responsible for designing, manufacturing, and then distributing high calibre models to every client that needs one. They should be able to help you with all of your tasks.

    FORMING

With glass container forming mechanisms, you usually form the items in two phases. At the blank mould stage, you form a glob or charge of molten glass in a blank mould into a preform or parison. You place a neck ring close to the blank mould. As for the container neck finish, you form it against the neck ring so you get the final geometry and size.

Finally, you transfer the parison to a blow mould using the neck ring. Inside, you form the container body to its final geometry and size. Normally, the neck ring includes a pair of semi-circular bodies of steel or cast bronze.

    ATTACHMENT FEATURES

Neck rings used for moulding a glass receptacle include one attachment feature at the very least. This can include two semi-annular neck ring halves. Both contain a metal insert that will be resistant to wear. The neck ring body will also be heat-conductive. This differs from the wear-resistant part because it is formed around the neck ring insert.

Each of the neck ring halves come with a glass-containing cavity face. This itself has a first surface portion created by the inserts. It is for the closure attachment feature that is on the neck finish. There is an additional surface portion created by the bodies too that is for moulding pieces of the neck finish. It excludes the closure attachment feature.

THE EASY WAY TO BUY NECKRING PROFILE GAUGES

At Penico Gauges, we manufacture our gauges in specific ways. As a result we ensure they have the correct interlocking fits. The result is work that is efficient and moulds with longer lifespans.

If you would like to purchase our neckring profile gauges, or need us to design a bespoke one for you, please contact our team. You will be really happy you chose to work with us.

  2. INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR THREADS
    9 March 2020

As a professional establishment, the thing we want the most is to satisfy our customers. To make this a reality, we create the best blank mould gauges we can. Having spent years on this task, we have built quite the reputation for ourselves. So, when someone needs one of these utensils, they know they can come to us.

There are many things to plan when someone has a moulding project. This includes the threads. When necessary, you can automatically mould interior and exterior threads into the part. This removes the need for mechanical forming procedures.

    MOULDING THE THREADS

With parts that include exterior threads, you can mould these in two ways. The most cost efficient one would be to find the parting line on the centreline. However, you should consider that it is normally not possible to steer clear of undercuts inside the parting line. This should result in deformation of your thread on ejection.

If the above will not work for you, there is an alternative. This is to equip your mould with an exterior contraption that unscrews threads. There is another case where you would do this too. It is when the thread's axis lies in the direction of the mould opening.

As for interior threads, you mould these in parts using automatic unscrewing gadgets. Or, you could employ collapsible cores to generate partial threads. Another strategy is to use threaded inserts that are hand-loaded. These are ones you remove from the mould with the part.

  3. REMAIN AWARE OF MOULD CONTAMINATION
    9 March 2020

We are a business with a reputation for supplying many unique and practical products, including the mould reamer. The standard tool is one that is useful for all sorts of mechanical operations. As for ours, we design them specifically for repairing moulds, hence the name. You can use them to rectify any faults in a comprehensive manner.

Something about moulds that people have to be aware of is mould contamination. Deposits on mould exteriors can originate from a myriad of sources. The mould and part design could be such that you require considerably high melt-temperatures to fill the part. If this is the case, the user might discover that some deterioration of their components is occurring. This can result in deposits on the mould's surface.

    ACCUMULATING AIR PRESSURE

If you don't vent the mould adequately, the air pressure inside is going to build. It will do this as the cavity fills. As pressure rapidly gathers on a fixed weight of gas, the gas' temperature shall rise greatly. This is a principle of physics. Essentially, this is what happens inside a diesel engine when it ignites the fuel.

Within an injection mould, the pressures can rise to a point where the leading edge of the material catches fire. Normally, this leaves behind a dark deposit within the mould. This is at the last point to fill. In addition, it leaves a burned spot on the moulded part. The venting could be marginal. If it is, the part might not experience a burn. However, decomposition products shall assemble in the mould inside the region of the last section to fill.

  4. THE CONTAINERS YOU CAN MAKE WITH PRESS AND BLOW

THE CONTAINERS YOU CAN MAKE WITH PRESS AND BLOW

As Penico Gauges we design and manufacture a series of specialist tools. For years, we have been at the forefront of our industry. This is because we know what customers desire the most from their purchases. As a result we fabricate our blank mould gauges in ways that enable them to fully satisfy their users.

You may already be familiar with glass containers. If so, you are probably aware of the processes manufacturers use to create them. Press and blow is the example we shall use here. However, you might not know about the specific types of receptacles you can make with this technique. Read on to find out.

    WIDE MOUTH PACKER BOTTLES

These include a spacious opening which makes them perfect for storing solids. The amber coloured ones filter ultraviolet wavelengths out. This turns them into a practical choice for solids that are light sensitive. These containers are the archetypal vitamin bottles. As a result, they are very common as pharmaceutical packaging. You are also free to use them in environmental and chemical applications.

    CLEAR GLASS FRENCH SQUARE BOTTLES

These containers are simple to fill and space-saving. The clear glass offers users minimal chemical interference with the contents. There is also complete visibility with them. The French square model permits the container to hold more product while taking up less storage and shelf space. The large mouth is ideal for sampling, storing, and mixing.

    GRADUATED MEDIUM ROUND BOTTLES

These are wonderful multipurpose receptacles people use with pathological and biological specimens. One other use would be storing industrial laboratory reagents and chemicals. So they offer easy handling and pouring, these glass bottles come with a slight shoulder.

  5. GRAVITY PERMANENT MOULD CASTING
    9 March 2020

Reamers are tools people use in all kinds of mechanical procedures. What they do is fashion holes inside a mould. They smooth out and debur any edges or imperfections on an object. We distribute a unique model known as the mould reamer. When there is a fault with moulds, you can use one to repair it comprehensively.

One of the processes that involve moulds is permanent mould casting. This is useful for creating a huge quantity of castings. You do this with one mould that is reusable. The casting operation merely consists of someone pouring molten metal inside a mould. Here, it cools down and eventually solidifies. Then, you open the mould and remove the casting, and reuse the mould. The material used for the mould is a high-temperature metal. Hot work die steel and cast iron are good examples.

    HOW GRAVITY CASTING WORKS

Gravity permanent mould casting is one form of this process. It employs the metal die and uses it in tandem with a delivery system that is gravity fed. This mixture reduces the operation's overall cost. Concurrently, it takes advantage of the die's higher cooling rate. The restrictions and benefits of gravity casting are not too different from those for the LP mould systems.

There are many ways you can use this casting procedure. The easiest would be to pour metal into a mould let it solidify. Such a method is somewhat inexpensive. The die is the only massive cost. However, there are concerns about oxide entrapment and creation, and metal turbulence. It is the same with microshrinkage porosity and solidification shrinkage. There are, however, processes out there that can attempt to minimise the turbulence.

ORDER A QUALITY MOULD REAMER TODAY

At Penico Gauges, we create the mould reamer in standard and special sizes. The regular ones range from 2" to 7". As for the latter, we will manufacture them on request. Additionally, there are two separate styles. They are Carbide Tipped and High Speed Steel.
