PLAST-CONTROL was formed in 1979 and launched its first product the Gravimetric Extrusion control system later that year. Since then we have grown with continuous development of products and new product launches approx. every two years.

Our innovative and class leading system and sensor hardware technologies are used extensively in the blown film extrusion and continuous sheet and profile extrusion industries worldwide.

Were always striving to deliver market relevant products which reduce operational costs and raw material consumption and have excellent service and low operational costs.

PLAST-CONTROL UK has represented PLAST-CONTROL GmbH in the UK since 1990 and provides technical consultation services, UK based installation, commissioning, service and after sales support as well as holding comprehensive stocks of spares parts and consumables for the complete product range.

    Air-CC
    New non-contact measuring sensor
    PLAST-CONTROL’s experience in building and designing measurement sensors for the on-line gauge measurement of films has given rise to several new technologies. The new patented sensor AirCC was developed especially for sticky and surface-sensitive films. The AirCC has 2 parallel working sensors which create different capacitive fields. This combination allows calculation of film thickness regardless of distance. A constantly changing air gap (range 100 to 350 µm) does not influence the result

    Air Ring Cooling Systems Blown Film
    At Plast-Control UK we design and supply a variety of Air Ring Cooling Systems for use with blown-film applications. We utilise our own MagicFlow lip design to provide the most efficient cooling system possible. We offer the U version cooling system constructed from aluminium for reliability and robustness. This can be supplied for die sizes of diameters up to 1400-2000mm.

    Our K series has a capacity for cooling die sizes of up to 750mm, and features a rotating air distribution system to cool fully rotating dies. Alternately, we offer a DUO system which pre-cools the die before entering the main cooling ring for greater efficiency. Our cooling systems can be fitted with automatic profile controlling or standard uncontrolled formats.

  3. Batch Metering and Blending

    Batch Metering and Blending
    At Plast-Control UK we offer a range of Batch Metering and Blending Systems that prepare raw materials for the extrusion process and fit directly onto the throat of an extruder. We can provide built-in Gravimetric Extrusion Controls for the Batch Blenders. We use long-life metering valve technology that automatically responds to your set production target-points. The extruder output will adjust the batch size accordingly.

    We offer the Pro-Batch and Nano-Batch systems dependent on the level of production you are hoping to achieve - the Pro-Batch offers two weighing chambers and double the throughput capacity of the Nano-Batch, which features one chamber if your company requires a smaller output. Our Batch Blenders are simple to clean, using vertical mixing technology to maintain a homogenous mixture of materials.

  4. Calibration Baskets Blown Film

    Calibration Baskets Blown Film
    We offer two different categories of sizing and calibration baskets for the stabilization of blown film as it is cooled over an air ring system. Getting this part of the extrusion process correct is an important element of producing a high quality blown film with excellent profile tolerance. At Plast-Control UK we supply the PRO-CAGE range of calibration baskets for the production of blown film.

    Within this range we offer the M series based on a double pivot system, and the L range featuring a single pivot. Both types of calibration basket are constructed with a robust steel frame that provides precise control of blown film diameters up to 9m. Our calibration baskets are fully compatible with the Plast-Control Internal Bubble Cooling system.

    C-Compact
    Capacitive measurement sensors from PLAST-CONTROL in combination with direct driven scanner rings in low-weight aluminum design are the warrant for low maintenance profile measurement without any slip (precise allocation). Fast-scan versions (approx. 20 sec. for 4 m bubble circumference) are available.

    C-Scan
    C-SCAN solutions for barrier and cast film. A new technology as effective alternative to radioactive sourced measurement: The C-Scan is mounted after the collapsing frame on blown film lines or after the chill rolls on cast lines and measures across the web.

    By using a new and patented algorithm, the system calculates the transverse profile in full 360° view. Barrier films with a capacitive system can now be measured without restriction.

    Extruder Loss in Weight Throughput Control
    Amongst the control systems that we supply at Plast-Control UK is a throughput control that montiors the loss in materials weight as it passes through the extruder. Our throughput control system provides an accurate reading of materials consumption and line speed during the extrusion process. From these readings the control system enables you to regulate your extrusion applications for maximum efficiency, higher production yields and reduced scrap levels.

    Our throughput control systems are based on intelligent software and are suitable for all methods of continuous extrusion using free flowing materials. The control system is designed for mono and co-extrusion applications, and is compatible with all other Plast-Control products.

    Extrusion Process and Temperature Control
    At Plast-Control UK we can design and install a Navigator machine control system to monitor any type of continuous hot melt extrusion process, with temperature control options either integrated into the system or separate. Our extrusion process and temperature control systems operate on a common layout irrespective of the original manufacturer of your machinery, and feature touch-screen technology for ease-of-use.

    We offer single or double screens depending on the scale of your operations. Our extrusion and temperature control systems are fully compatible with all other Plast-Control equipment. We offer several temperature control systems, with options to insert a graphical display relaying data into an existing control interface or as a separate control circuit.
