Tool Design and Manufacture

PEP has its own fully-equipped toolroom, delivering a comprehensive service from initial design evaluation through to on-going tool maintenance and service.

Prototypes

Our rapid and efficient prototyping services are designed to allow engineers and product developers to quickly and effectively design, test and then develop parts before moving them into full production.

Prototype tooling can be produced for small or large batch runs, either P20 or fully hardened as required.

For rapid prototyping we can provide SLA models, and we can even CNC machine full plastic prototypes if it is helpful to the design process.

Our in-house tool room ensures we can offer a quick, technical and efficient service, whatever our customers’ requirements. For example, fully functional P20 tools can be manufactured within two weeks, from design freeze to tool trials.

Injection Moulding

PEP moulds a vast range of plastics, including technical engineering grade polymers, on a range of injection moulding machines from five to 300 tonnes, and a maximum shot size of 860cm3.

Our continuous investment in new plant and equipment keeps us at the forefront of modern technologies, and ensures we can process the widest range of engineering polymers such as PEEK, PPS, IXEF, Amodel, Fortron, Polyesters, POM, PPA, LCP, PC/ ABS Alloys as well as various PA66 and PA12 and HTN PA66.

2 Shot

PEP’s technical and engineering expertise is invaluable in helping customers benefit from the many advantages of the 2 Shot process.

2 shot moulding produces complex mouldings from two different polymers during a single machine cycle.

It enables the creation of mouldings with more than one colour, or different grades of materials to achieve a hard and soft touch feel within a single component. As well as the cost advantages, the process also allows product designers to create complicated mouldings very easily, with a high level of accuracy and repeatability.

Insert Moulding

PEP delivers a wide range of insert moulding services for customers across all market sectors.

The over-molding of metal inserts has a huge range of applications – it can deliver improved component strength or rigidity, reduce weight, alter performance or introduce integral electrical contacts.

We offer an insert moulding service featuring:

  • Single impression up to 16 impression tooling
  • Vertical and horizontal moulding
  • 3-axis or 6-axis robots for automated processes
