Rheintacho UK Ltd

We have been developing and manufacturing a wide range of measurement instruments since 1920, always with an emphasis on quality, durability and service. As our products remain in use throughout the world we continue to support our customers with spares, repairs and replacements and reengineered products.
In 2001 we joined with Rheintacho GmbH to create one of the largest rotational speed measurement manufacturers in the world. Rheintacho brings over 100 years of additional expertise, especially in the field of non-contact rotational speed sensors and stroboscopes.
As a consequence, our expanded range now covers a wide selection of products for the measurement, indication and control of rotational speed together with a range of stroboscopes for quality control and maintenance.
Our handheld portable range of tachometers and stroboscopes provides the user with the ability to measure speed and distance as well as carrying out maintenance checks by creating a ‘frozen’ image using a strobe. With equipment for use in a range of environments and applications there is a solution for every need.
Where a fixed solution is required we offer stroboscopes with a range of light sources, widths and trigger configurations to suit individual demands.
Our rotational speed instruments range from mechanical indicators which are directly connected to moving components, to non-contact sensors which generate a signal from the component and transmit this to electronic devices for control and indication. With this range we have the capability to supply effective solutions from stock, or to engineer existing products to meet specific requirements, either as a ‘one-off’ or for a serial production.
Our technical strength is key to remaining at the forefront of our industry, and we work closely with our clients during the product development process to ensure that when we design and develop a product for them it meets the specification and adds value to the finished product. Quality, accuracy and durability are fundamental to our success.
We believe that we can provide a cost-effective solution for your needs, and if there is not currently a standard product, please talk to us and see what we can do for you.

The RHEINTACHO Group, has now increased its efforts to provide the ATEX world with more devices which can be used in hazardous areas.

After introducing the handheld mechanical tachometer for Zone 2 applications in August 2014, this product was upgraded to enable it to be used in Zone 1 hazardous areas such as mines in November 2015. The success of this product as well as its ease of use, has led many companies to implement it in maintenance processes on site and in repair shops as well.

The newest and second addition to RHEINTACHO’S ATEX family is the introduction of two types of enclosure which are both Zone 1 approved. Within these enclosures, either the Rheintacho LED Stationary Strobe 3000 or 5000 are fitted and wired within them. The 5000 enclosure is a bit larger than the 3000 enclosure. Both are then wired to a DIN rail inside the enclosure. The cable leaving the enclosure through an ATEX gland, is routed to a safe area, (meaning outside the hazardous zone) and is connected via a 5-pin plug to the RHEINTACHO strobe control which provides and receives signals as well as provides power to the strobe.

This enclosure can easily be mounted in printing areas or elsewhere to facilitate the inspection of high-speed surfaces and as a highly efficient light source for use in industrial image processing technology. Despite the characteristics of the enclosure no cooling is required and no soiling or other contamination occurs with the strobe being inside.

There is very little to no effect on the brightness or illuminated area through the window in the enclosure due to its position close to the window.
