Salop Design and Engineering Ltd is a privately owned company, based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and with all of its manufacturing activities produced out of the modern, purpose built factory situated on the outskirts of the town centre. Employing up to 100 members of staff, Salop Design and Engineering Ltd specialise in the production of metal pressings and assemblies which are manufactured for a wide variety of market places, including;

Salop Design and Engineering Ltd also has a sister company, Salop Haulage Ltd, who operate from their depot which is situated onsite. They cover all of Salop Design and Engineering Ltd’s haulage requirements.
Salop Design and Engineering Ltd operates out of the purpose built site in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, with the depot for Salop Haulage situated at the back of the factory building.
The factory and its staff are divided into departments; Press Line, Production, Tool Room and Quality.
The Press line includes a line of ten presses with tonnages from 200 to 400 tonnes. The layout of the presses on the floor has minimized redundant floor space with maximum efficiency.
There are a wide variety of press types and specifications, including 24 mechanical / progression / transfer / hydraulic presses ranging from 110 tonne to 630 tonne. This covers an extensive range of tonnages and capacities including both manual and fully automated robotic transfer systems. All aspects of presswork are undertaken, including hydraulic deep draw presswork. Secondary assembly and welding processes are also readily available.
Salop Design and Engineering Ltd is accredited with the quality standard TS16949. A process of continuous improvement is operated with constant targets on efficiencies. In achieving the continuing targets required for maintaining TS16949, Salop Design is subject to regular audits from both Internal and External assessors.

Salop Design and Engineering Ltd have over 50 years experience using good engineering practices, enabling the company to produce pressings and pressed assemblies for the Automotive, Domestic Appliances and Agricultural industries. The company is especially proud of expanding its customer base in the Information Technology and Defence markets. Assembly facilities include projection welding, spot welding, gas welding, arc welding, riveting, milling and turning etc, allowing Salop Design and Engineering Ltd more flexibility and to carry out a wide variety of work.
The manufacture of pressed products is at the heart of the company's business. Salop Design and Engineering Ltd has a formidable range of plant and equipment providing enormous capabilities. The company supplies precision parts and assemblies to major international customers which are fitted to the following areas of vehicles;
• Exhaust components, including complete muffler box assemblies.
• Body-in-white components, both structural and inner panels.
• Seat components.
• Trim and bracket components.
• Dust covers and heat shields.
The company has specialist knowledge in the pressing difficult materials; such has high strength low alloy steels and varying grades of stainless steel. If there was a sudden problem with part production, call the production team and they will look to provide help and assistance - even to the extent of collecting a customer’s existing tooling and starting the job within hours.
The company has quality approvals from all of its customers and is equipped to manufacture and supply components to all modern logistical requirements. Having Electronic Data Interchange capabilities with options for bar coding, it is possible to schedule and transmit data using the companies email system.
The company produces substantial numbers of panels, bodies, interiors and grill pans for cookers as well as washing machine panels and firebox interiors, using customer owned tooling. Salop Design and Engineering Ltd has both the flexibility and the capacity to set up new production processes at short notice, either for new products or to meet, for example, a sudden upsurge in demand. The employees of the company include people with a high level experience in designing the necessary tooling for the rectification of existing products or the creation of new ones. Salop Design and Engineering Ltd have a sister company, Salop Haulage Ltd, based permanently on site, that undertake all the haulage requirements of Salop Design as well as working independently.
Salop Haulage Ltd has been a member of the Group for over 40 years and has a fleet of 12 HGVs ranging from 3 tonne vehicles up to 44 tonne vehicles, all of which are curtain siders however flatbed trailers are also available.
Salop Haulage Ltd has the ability to offer;
• Batch Schedule, JIT or KANBAN delivery systems
• EDI capabilities in place, with the option of Bar Coding
• Scheduling via e-mail, ISDN modem is available
The combination of excellent nearby motorway links and a sister Company with many years haulage experience, allows Salop Design and Engineering Ltd to provide a very timely and cost effective transport solution.
Lingen Davies Cancer Centre Appeal 2011
Following the success of the Dragon Boat Race in June of this year, Salop Design and Engineering Ltd has decided to take part in another rowing race, this time raising money for the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre Appeal.
The team will be made up of Chris Greenough, Lee Pearson, Stewart Davis and Ben Ewels.
Dragon Boat Race 2011
Salop Design have joined together with Proactive Personnel Ltd, a local recruitment agency, to take part in the 2011 Shrewsbury Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 26th June.
Over the Years the two companies have raised money for various different Charities in separate individual events.
This Year, between them, they have decided to join forces and Support the Severn Hospice in its attempt to raise around £35,000 at the 2011 Shrewsbury Dragon Boat Race. Our aim, with the combined seventeen strong team is to Win the event or at least finish in the top ten.
We have planned a rigorous training routine, involving running / hiking / cycling and general Gym work.

18th Feb 2011 Salop Design appoint Directors
It is with great pleasure that Chris Greenough and Lee Pearson have today been promoted to the Board of Directors.
Chris has worked for the Company for 15 years, starting out on the production line as a press operator gradually being promoted up through the ranks. His main areas of responsibility are production planning, logistics, purchasing and HR.
Lee joined Salop Design in 2009 as a Project Manager bringing with him a wealth of engineering and general manufacturing knowledge gained from his 15 years experience in metal pressings in the West Midlands. His main areas of responsibility are new project implementation, heavy guage pressings and continuous improvement.
