Flame Retardancy

NDFR None Durably Flame Retardant: chemically treated with a water solution and if wetted in any way should be retreated.

DFR Durably Flame Retardant: chemically treated to withstand a number of cleanings.   IFR Inherently Flame Retardant: woven from fibres with a high flame retardancy and in some cases a chemical treatment is also added as an extra safeguard.   FR Flame Retardant   BS5867  is the British Standard for flame retardant fabrics used for curtains and drapes.

Bolton Twill (NDFR-DFR)

A cotton twill for stage and perimeter curtains. Inexpensive, it’s ideal for schools, budget productions and event drapes. Lighter in weight than wool, it can also be used for linings.

Cotton Cyclorama Canvas (NDFR)

This theatrical cyclorama cloth can also be used for backdrop,projected images, lighting effects and painting.

Casement (NDFR)

An affordable, lightweight cotton fabric . Used in one off shows and for the exhibition market. Ideal for ceiling drapes and particularly as lining drapes for marquees.

Molton (NDFR)

A brushed cotton fabric, an economical choice.with a soft feel.

Light Dimming (IFR)

We have a wide range of materials for light dimming or total blackout these materials are available in a wide range of colours and textures and can be used for many applications.

Filled Cloth (NDFR)

This is the industry standard for cycloramas for TV, film and theatre. The weave allows for an excellent tool for lighting designers as it “softens” the light.

Velvet Velour (NDFR - DFR)

A traditional stage cotton velvet for front of house and valance theatre curtains. Used in venues from schools to major productions.

Wool Serge (DFR-IFR)

This is the industry standard fabric for onstage masking and perimeter curtains, an ideal choice for school halls, working clubs, regional theatres,etc. Heavy versions are available for customers requiring better acoustics. See our special section on Wool Serge.
