Ventx Ltd

We are an industrial silencers manufacturer and design to meet a range of customer's requirements. There are a diverse number of applications where industrial silencers could be the perfect solution.

For us, as an industrial silencer manufacturer, we need to know about flowrate, up-stream pressure, up-stream temperature, connection size and type, and noise level required. With this information, we can begin to provide you with a positive, high performing solution.

Air trapped in hydraulic systems can cause big issues

Air trapped in hydraulic systems can cause big issues

At Ventx we support clients in different industries who have issues with noise. We have a wealth of experience and the skills to look at all kinds of sources, sound paths, and more. Ultimately we will provide a reliable solution to reduce the volume. It could be air vent silencers, diffusers for exhausts, or a choice of other models.

One thing you will see in a lot of industries is hydraulic systems. For example, they are crucial for construction, agriculture, aerospace, energy, and waste management. You can find them in things like lifts, steering, brakes, conveyors, and heavy equipment like printing and stamping machines.

The issue with air

One of the biggest problems with hydraulics is air. The issue is that it is compressible while the hydraulic fluid is not. It can have a massive impact on performance, efficiency, and even noise. In some cases it can compromise safety.

What you have to keep in mind here is accuracy is vital with many hydraulic systems. For example, let’s say someone is operating an excavator. The hydraulics control the movement of an arm. A valve opens to allow hydraulic fluid pressure to transmit, causing the arm to move. When it shuts, the armature stops. If there is no air in the system, the response times are instant and it uses energy efficiently.

However, if there is air in the system it can mean the arm is sluggish to start moving and doesn’t respond immediately to stop. It happens because the air needs to compress before the fluid can initiate the movement. That can be a big health and safety risk. It is also inefficient.

What to do?

Operators can use a number of methods to tackle the air problem. Firstly is hand bleeding to physically bleed air from the system. It can be time consuming though, meaning there can be a big hit to productivity. If air builds up quickly again, it also means you need to do maintenance more frequently.

A traditional alternative here was to drill small holes. The idea was they would allow air to escape. However, there are some major issues. Hydraulic fluid would also escape via the holes, resulting in big losses. Plus, it would have an impact on system efficiency, energy use, and even the level of tool breakage. The noise of air escaping could be hazardous too.

A newer option is to choose an air bleed orifice or air vent valve. The idea with both is similar to drilling holes, however they are much more reliable. The orifice can dramatically reduce hydraulic fluid loss. Valves open and close as necessary to release air. They are the better option in areas where you need to release high volumes of air.

Choose air vent silencers

One thing you may need to look at here is the noise. While it is great to remove air from hydraulic systems, you must factor in the risk. Depending on the conditions and size of the opening, venting the air could create very dangerous noises. It may be a good idea to use a silencer to reduce them.

Ventx is one of the best silencer experts in the UK. We can create solutions for all kinds of needs. Our experience covers some of the trickiest requirements, including oil and gas, energy, and manufacturing. We can apply it and our exceptional resources to find an effective noise reduction plan for you.

So, get in touch today if you need air vent silencers or any other solution. We can help, providing services that can tackle noise and also improve system efficiency and performance in some cases.
