The action of physically stopping sound waves demands that your solutions be dense enough for reflection. You also need to keep the sounds in one space.

When someone has issues with noise, soundproofing isn’t always the way to go. Saying this, there are certainly circumstances where it is an appropriate method. Radio/TV studios, cinemas, and theatres need it because it stops sounds from travelling. It can limit them to locations where people expect the noise.
