HACCP Training Courses for the Food Industry

European and UK legislation now requires food business operators, to implement a documented food safety management system based on the principles of a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. HACCP provides an effective management tool for identifying hazards in food production and the implementation of cost-effective controls and monitoring procedures at points which are critical to food safety.

For food manufacturers, VWA can provide accredited RSPH or HABC courses for operatives, HACCP team members, supervisors and technical managers. Now that the BRC Global Standards for Food Safety (Issue 5) place even more emphasis on HACCP and HACCP training and qualifications, it is essential to ensure that all members of a HACCP team receive sufficient training, leading to recognised qualifications. Our courses accredited by RSPH or HABC will meet this requirement.

Auditing Training Courses for the Food Industry

Our auditing courses will equip you with the skills required to carry out internal, supplier and third party audits. The Auditing Skills course covers all the theory behind carrying out an audit, from the opening meeting through to reporting and corrective action. It is also very interactive, allowing time for plenty of group exercises and industry case studies. From September 2010 this course will also incorporate an accredited exam - the HABC Level 3 Award in Effective Auditing and Inspection Skills.

Our Supplier Auditing course is aimed at those responsible for the auditing of their organisation's new and existing suppliers.  An understanding of auditing or completion of the Auditing Skills course is recommended before embarking on this course.
For those who need the expertise to audit a complete management system our Auditor/Lead Auditor course fits the bill. Again, a practical approach to learning is taken, with audit scenarios and role play being used to ensure that this intensive course is both enjoyable and informative. This course was revised in 2010 and is specifically designed for the food and packaging industry.  It will provide delegates with an understanding of the ISO series of standards, and the skills necessary to audit a complete management system internally and externally.   Download Our Training Dates for the following courses

What is Ethical Trading?

Ethical trading – or ethical sourcing – means that a company takes responsibility for the labour and human rights practices within its supply chain.

Ethical trade became a growing issue during the 1990s as companies with global supply chains, particular in the clothing and food sectors, came under increasing pressure to ensure decent working conditions. Find out more about ethical trade at the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Website
Ethical Trading Audits

A number of the major retailers, including Tesco, are now making it their responsibility to ensure that ethical trading is an integral part of their business. Their aim is to work with suppliers to uphold labour standards in the supply chain.  This is done through a process of monitoring and assessment, hence the need for ethical trading audits to measure a supplier’s performance against the ETI Base Code.
