Wilkinson Dynamic Balancing Ltd was formed in 1968 and are specialist balancers to aerospace, automotive, power generation and petrochemical industries as well as general engineers worldwide.

We offer extensive balancing capacities:

Vertical balancing up to 200kg and 1000mm diameter

  • in both single and two plane configurations

 Horizontal balancing to to 6000kg and 3500mm diameter and 6500mm length

Vibration Monitors

Vibration sensors are used to monitor the vibration levels of all types of rotating machinery including fans, pumps and motors; in applications as varied as airports, hospitals and sports stadiums.

Wilkinson Dynamic Balancing Ltd now offer AC and 4-20mA versions of the HS-100 and HS-420 Sensor Series.

These sensors are both ATEX and IEC Ex cerified for use in both Group I (Mining) & Group II (Petrochemical) applications and will also operate in environments of inflammable gases, fumes, chemicals, powders and dust.
 

Thermography

The basis of infrared thermography is quite simple.  

All objects emit heat or electromagnetic energy, but only a small portion of this energy is visible to our eyes however this energy can be detected by an infrared camera.
Benefits of a thermal inspection:
  • Locates problems quickly without interrupting production
  • Reduces costly unscheduled interruptions
  • Extends the life of equipment by locating anomalies in components prior to failure
  • Confirms that previous anomalies have been rectified
The use of infrared radiation detection offers safe and accurate diagnosis of mechanical, electrical refractory and building defects.
 
  • Wear and tear on bearings, conveyors, motors, pumps and compressors can be monitored precisely by thermography.
  • Thermography can highlight load imbalance, damaged connections or failure of mechanisms within electrical systems.
  • Thermographic techniques are valuable to appraise plant structure, areas of major heat loss and obstructions and leakages within systems.
  • Refractory inspection includes steel ladles, process furnaces, rotary kilns and other lined vessels which can be monitored to appraise overall condition
After carrying out thermographic inspection we provide a detailed report highlighting actionable, prioritised information and details of the probable causes.

Non Destructive Testing

Penetrant Testing

Penetrant testing provides a means of detecting discontinuities which are open to the surface and difficult to observe by visual examination.
Using a water washable process penetrant inspection is very versatile and is not restricted in any way by the geometry of the components under examination. The process is suitable for inspection of suspect local areas and large volume production inspection.
In addition to our factory facilities on-site penetrant inspections can be carried out by utilising the aerosol container technique.
Radiographic Inspection


Our radiographic equipment, both X-ray and Gamma-ray, is capable of penetrating steel up to a depth of 2 inches and aluminium to a depth of 8 inches over normal exposure times.
The equipment can also be used on a wide spectrum of ferrous and non-ferrous materials including plastics, rubbers and carbon fibres.
Ultrasonic Inspection

Sound waves are employed for the examination of materials. These waves possess properties very similar to visible light. They can be refracted, focused and reflected.
Ultrasonic inspection is ideally suited to the detection of imperfections in thicker sections of materials where radiographic examination may be impractical.
Typical applications:
Lamination and wall thickness checks
Weld examination checks
Raw material surveys
Avoids creating the hazards of radiation, which occur when using Gamma and X-Ray Radiation.

Magnetic Particle Inspection

Magnetic particle inspection is a method for detecting surface discontinuities in ferro-magnetic materials.
The component under test is first magnetised then a magnetic ink is applied to the area to be inspected and the resulting pattern evaluated.

Inlet Vane Control Dampers

Inlet vane control dampers offer an energy saving alternative to the conventional damper.

Inlet vane control dampers alter the performance of a fan by pre-spinning gas before it enters the impeller as opposed to merely reducing the volume of gas entering the system (as is the case with conventional dampers).

When inlet vanes are fully open their resistance is negligible. As the vanes are closed the air enters the impeller with the same direction of rotation as the impeller. This causes a reduction in the total pressure generated across the impeller and the amount of power required, thus giving energy savings.

Inlet vane control enables the fan duty to be controlled with constant resistance, constant pressure and constant volume flow systems.

Flexible Connections

Gas and Industrial Fans manufacture flexible fabric connections/compensators for the most challenging of applications.

They are produced to be resistant to:
  • high temperature or extreme cold
  • oils and chemicals
  • abrasion
  • adverse weather conditions
Composites can also be made to cope with the most difficult of working conditions, where several adverse environmental factors need to be taken into account.

Acoustics

Gas and Industrial Fans Ltd offer all types of acoustics to meet the demanding noise regulations now imposed on industry.

  • Acoustic louvers allow air into a building (or fan room) but attenuate the noise emitted by the fans within.
  • In smaller applications we recommend and supply multi-layered soft enclosures as opposed to standard metal enclosures.
  • Where space is at a premium, acoustic jackets can be supplied that are fixed directly onto the casings of the equipment.
  • For segregation of work spaces and reduction of noise from one work space to another we also offer acoustic dividers to suit any size.
  • Additionally we offer a full range of fully welded silencers.

Anti-Vibration

To avoid transmission of vibration from impellers to steel structures or concrete footings anti-vibration mountings are essential.
