Membrane keypads are very versatile electronic components. Constructed of one or more thin film membrane switches, they usually have a high quality, durable screen printed graphic overlay on top, providing resistance to a wide range of chemicals while also displaying custom graphics and text.

They are inherently sealed to IP54 standards due to the way they are constructed, providing a certain level of protection from dust and moisture ingress and making them rugged and long lasting. They are also easy to clean and are resistant to most chemicals and cleaning agents.

Multiple switches can be incorprated into a single unit, along with encapsulated components such as LED's or resistors, RFI/EMI shielding, or even EL backlighting. All of this contained within a product that is less than 1mm thick!
