Crash Alarm Systems

Lee-Dickens Crash Alarm systems deployed in Civil and Military airfields around the world ensure safety and security for runways, and provide instant on-demand communications between Tower and Fire station.

Our modular system includes options for Touchscreen and Push-button consoles, providing one-touch control and real-time monitoring. Automated Alarm responses include activating Bay Doors, Sirens, Strobes, Tannoy messages, and CCTV operation.

Because this is a fully redundant and modular system, it supports any number of Control Towers and Fire Stations.

With Emergency-phones and auto-dial available, first responders can be contacted without delay.  All Alarms and actions are recorded in the permanent log.

The system is ideally suited to be coupled to the Sitewatch Remote Control and Monitoring Systems allowing a fully integrated Crash Alarm and monitoring system.

We have developed a wide range of products and services, which we sell directly to customers around the world. For the past 35 years, we have also been offering a Contract Electronics Manufacturing service to customers operating in a wide range of industries and technologies. The services have varied from simple printed circuit board assembly through to conceptual design - hardware, software, equipment housing etc - prototyping, certification, manufacture, assembly, test and long term support.

Our expertise covers a wide range of technologies and industries and we have experience of working with customers at all stages of product development.

Our Quality procedures are approved to BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Standards. Certain specialised products are approved by the MoD and BASEEFA for use in hazardous environments and critical applications.

Our Sitewatch Anywhere Cloud-Based Service is used by numerous small and medium sized customers. Our first-rate support team take care of the monitoring system allowing the customer's staff to concentrate on their core business. Most customers prefer our Anywhere cloud-based solution although some customers with larger numbers of sites still host their own Sitewatch servers.

By using the multi-award winning VTScada software we are able to offer scalable and event driven solutions for every IIOT requirement.  Our system includes the MQTT (Message Queueing Telemetry Transport) protocol which is an OASIS standard messaging protocol for the Internet of Things, and we also offer an MQTT Broker service.

Lee-Dickens has been supplying industrial process control and monitoring instrumentation since 1964. In the early 1970s we supplied our first systems and equipment to military specification.

Our engineering department includes hardware and software design engineers with many years' experience. We pride ourselves in being able to develop and produce equipment to satisfy our military customers' requirements.

Our wide range of Industrial Instruments is complemented by a higher specification range of military products that satisfy the high technological, performance and quality standards required by the UK Ministry of Defence.

We also supply a range of Sensors and Instrumentation for the Submarine programmes here in the UK and in Canada.

We manufacture a wide range of highly accurate sensors for measuring relative humidity, process temperature and level using capacitance and conductivity technology. We also have a range of ATEX approved Intrinsically Safe RH probes and ATEX approved intrinsically safe capacitance level probes.

    We have been developing software for real-time systems for over 40 years. Our wide experience in Server applications, embedded firmware, and communication protocol development allows us to implement expert monitoring systems and bespoke IoT solutions for our customers.

    All Software design and development is carried out in accordance with procedures laid down in our ISO9001 approved Design Engineering Practices and Procedures (DEP&P) Manual.

    Our engineers know that every installation will remain in place for years to come. While cutting corners can lead to short-term savings, we know that time invested in a top-quality installation is ultimately always worth-while. We pride ourselves in the quality of every single installation we do.  We value our customers and the care we take with all our work reflects that. 

    By using experienced and qualified electricians and installation engineers, we can ensure the highest standards. As a matter of course, photographs are taken during every installation and are compiled into a report for the customer. We are proud to show our customers the work we do on their behalf, and the reports we produce serve as a useful record of the installation for future reference.

    All work is governed by our own Quality Management System, along with any rules mandated by the customer.  All work is carefully prepared and is subject to Risk Assessment and Method Statements, which are presented for customer approval prior to any work taking place.

    Installation & Commissioning

    Relative Humidity and Temperature

    Lee-Dickens manufacture a range of Wall and Duct Mounting Relative Humidity and Temperature probes and transmitters suitable for industrial and environmental applications with two of the probes ATEX approved. We also supply Calibration Capsules that can be used in the field for a quick check. Full calibration is available on return of the units to our factory.

    The HP range includes mains powered, auxilliary DC powered and loop powered versions with a combination of RH, RH and Temperature, or, Temperature only options.

    The probes use capacitive sensors that have been designed to withstand a variety of atmospheres and to operate over a wide temperature and relative humdity range. For protection we offer the probes with either a plastic cage, a sintered bronze guard or optionally a stainless steel guard. Furthermore, the duct mounting probes/transmitters can be specified with either a table E flange or a compression fitting and apart from the standard length probes we also offer extended length probes for those applications requiring precise sensor location.

    Level Sensors And Controllers

    Lee-Dickens bought the ABB Kent Taylor 80 and 81 Series Capacitance and Conductivity based Level business back in 2001. Since then we have been developing new supporting products to go along side the existing proven products which we contiue to support. The ranges comprise continous capacitance level measurement (Telstor) for distances from 100mm through to 25M along with both capacitance (Tektor) and conductivity (NoFlote) based point level control. Newly added products include the Telstor Advance 2 wire transmitter that will fit into the head of new and existing 80 series Telstor Capacitance level probes. We also now have a range of DIN rail mounting NoFlote Controllers to go with our, or others, conductivity based level sensors.
