Car Door Punching

For the efficient hole punching of car doors, a custom customer solution was developed. Driven by four TOX®-Powerpackages type Typ Q-K, a total of 12 holes are punched on 4 car doors in one machine cycle. After manually loading of the parts, the system initiates via the two-hand controller. Each system is operated by one of the four integrated safety controls type ST ES, while the return stroke is controlled by means of a pressure switch.

Technical data:

  • Max. Pressing force: 12.6 kN
  • Total stroke: 170 mm
  • Powerstroke: 12 mm

Sidewall Punching

To ensure an efficient, robot-carried punching process, a custom system was developed. The application is for the punching of a side wall in the automotive sector. The robot tongs were equipped with the TOX®-Powerpackage type Q-K whose pneumatics are initiated by an "in-position" signal of the customer's PLC. With each punching press cycle, a hole of 6 mm diameter is punched.  The robot takt time is approximately 5 seconds. The controller type ST ES is used as a  safety control.

Technical data:

  • Max. Pressing force: 16.3 kN
  • Total stroke: 100 mm
  • Powerstroke: 15 mm

ClinchRivet® Technology – The answer to many joining issues

In the case of the patented ClinchRivet®, the actual rivet connection is made using a simple cylindrical rivet in a joining process utilizing a drawing/pressing method. Just like the TOX®-Round Joint, the materials to be joined are not cut, but formed inside the die cavity.

The special advantage of this ClinchRivet® is its simple and symmetrical rivet. This provides for a trouble-free feeding and pressing operation. The materials to be joined gain an additional retaining member. A clean and highly repeatable joint is created. Its Multipoint capability increases the cost advantages.

Due to the filling of the clinched joint with the ClinchRivet®, the strength of the joint increases considerably, and especially the shear strength. The ClinchRivet® is especially appropriate for use with thin sheet metals.

ADVANTAGES

  • symmetrical rivet geometry, thus jam-free feeding and high productivity
  • excellent electrical conductivity
  • resistant to corrosion
  • simple quality control by measuring the "X" dimension
  • no cutting of the punch or die side sheet metals
  • no mechanical notch effect, high dynamic capability
  • no damage to surface coating
  • no slugs produced during process

Fastener Insertion Machines & Tooling

Fastener elements such as nuts, studs, rivets or screws can be pressed into almost any material. At TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK, we specialize in functional element insertion, offering enormous expertise to our customers.

Although there are many element types, our insertion process comes down to 4 basic elements:

  • Self-clinching elements, which deform the component
  • Self-piercing elements, which punch their own hole
  • Press-in elements, which are inserted into an existing hole
  • Riveting elements which clamp themselves into the pre-punched metal when being inserted

Below is a list of common fasteners that our machines press in:

  • Pierce nuts
  • Pierce studs
  • Clinch nuts
  • Clinch studs
  • Weld nuts
  • Weld studs
