Turnkey Solutions
he financial case for refurbishing or upgrading an old boiler house is a strong one. Aging heat raising equipment is often inefficient because it can guzzle fuel and lacks modern temperature control. Investing in modern systems is not always possible, so Babcock Wanson offers attractive refurbishment and upgrade services for all Steam, Hot Water and Thermal Fluid Boilers, and the boiler house installation as a whole, to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
For heavy boiler works, or for optimizing boiler room performance, Babcock Wanson provides its expertise to help guide investment choices.- Repair and renovation of boilers of all types and all brands. Babcock Wanson offers in depth assessment of pressure equipment and associated ancillary equipment by inspection and performance of non-destructive testing to support it. This permits evaluation of the potential benefits of a boiler replacement or refurbishment work to existing equipment.
- Update of the automation and operating modes: The automation and operating controls of industrial boilers have developed a lot over recent years. Babcock Wanson is able to undertake an upgrade of existing boilers and equip them with less restrictive operating controls. Starting with an inventory of the boiler house, a detailed analysis of current controls and operation will lead to a costed proposal for upgrade works (PLC upgrades, sensor updates, fitting of high integrity and SIL rated controls and many other improvements)

TwinPack
Steam outputs from 30 t/h to 58 t/h
The TwinPack range of boilers is the latest design and has been developed using a combination of best available technologies to offer high reliability and maximum efficiency. Over a period of more than 50 years Babcock Wanson has built a reputation for excellence in the design and manufacture of Twin Furnace Boilers. These boilers were originally designed to meet the demands of high steam output users and to satisfy to the requirements of the European market for water tube boiler replacement.High performance
Energy efficiency
High operating efficiency is a key feature of Babcock Wanson boilers. When a TwinPack boiler is specified in conjunction with a Babcock Wanson Economiser and Heat Recovery System, net efficiencies of greater than 98% (with the R-Eco system) and 105% (with a condensing economiser) can be achieved. The Babcock Wanson Burner Management System and matched combustion head have been specifically designed for perfect control of excess air throughout the modulating range and non-degraded operation at very low load. The simultaneous operation of the burners guarantees a perfect thermal load distribution while ensuring maximum flexibility in operation and burner turndown ratios of up to 30:1 on natural gas.
Environmentally friendly
The perfect match between the boiler and burners guarantees optimal combustion and perfectly controlled emissions. Optimum efficiency and high burner turndown results in lowest practicable CO2 emissions and specialist burner technology ensures very low Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions to satisfy all environmental demands and regulations.
Reliable and safe design
TwinPack boilers benefit from Babcock Wanson’s most advanced regulation and control system. For best performance the Navinergy system allows local operation via the boiler HMI plus remote monitoring through a web interface.
Reduced operating cost
Robust design for very long life
TwinPack boilers include a tubular construction flue gas reversal chamber. This technology, unique to Babcock Wanson, removes any requirement for furnace tube tie rods and allows high variations of steam demand whilst minimising mechanical stress on the pressure body. The TwinPack water tube reversal chamber also minimises boiler refractory requirements.

VAP-BP
Steam outputs from 140 kg/h to 4000 kg/h
The VAP BP series has been specifically developed for the economical and safe production of low-pressure steam and is designed to work outside normal pressure system regulations in many European countries. This simplifies both installation and operating requirements and reduces cost of installation and operation for processes that do not require high steam pressure or temperature.Low Pressure Steam Production
VAP BP is designed to produce low pressure steam (<0.5 barg) to satisfy a variety of industrial processes that do not require high pressure. VAP BP avoids consuming energy unnecessarily by providing steam at the desired pressure of use without the need for expensive steam pressure reducing equipment.
VAP BP is a 2-pass boiler with a substantial combustion chamber and large overall water content which helps it cope with fast changing steam loads and high peaks in demand. High operating efficiency of up to 92% based on the net calorific value of the fuel can be achieved due to its low steam operating temperature and generous heating surface.
The latest burner technology is fitted which ensures the VAP BP range complies with all emissions regulations.
VAP BP Features
- Operating pressure / Temperature <0.5 bar / 110 °C
- Very low heat losses.
- Large water volume design to deal with continuous and intermittent steam loads.
- Simple to install and use due to low pressure operation.
- Excluded from steam regulatory control in many European countries.
- Large furnace for stress free operation large furnace design.
- Designed for operation on gaseous fuels and light fuel oil.
- Low NOx and CO emissions.
- Capable of working pump free – direct from mains water supply pressure.
- Simplified maintenance requirements.
VAP BP is perfectly suited for processes such as industrial laundries, certain food processes or any simple low-pressure steam demand.

VAP-EL Electric Boiler Series
From 16 to 360 kW – 400V three-phase – 50Hz
The VAP-EL model Electric Steam Boiler uses electrical energy to boil water and produce steam for process heating. The configuration of an electric boiler ensures high efficiency and an affordable heating process. This type of steam boiler can be a very good solution to meet your process heating requirements, especially in places where electricity is a readily available and low-cost resource. It is also convenient because its overall size means it does not need a lot of space for installation.
Babcock Wanson provides a wide selection of electric boiler solutions that can be adapted to our customers’ needs. The electric boiler has been designed to operate in diverse process industries, such as food processing, drying, chemical, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries, in fact any industry that needs steam and has an economic source of electrical power or cannot install a fossil fuel fired traditional boiler.

VAP HP High Pressure Steam Generator
From 232 to 2,325 kW – Up to 100 barg working pressure
VAP-HP is a natural circulation high pressure steam generator designed for operation in a closed loop steam and condensate system. This type of closed loop configuration provides very high overall efficiency and the minimum of system losses throughout the operating range. The lack of blowdown, no requirement for softened make-up water and no need for ongoing chemical dosing make this the most cost effective and environmentally friendly design of steam generating equipment.
In its simplest application, the VAP-HP unit is operated in conjunction with a single user; steam produced by the boiler condenses at the user heat exchange surface producing condensate which returns under gravity to the boiler for reheating. VAP-HP requires minimal utilities consumption or use of space.
VAP-HP steam generator has been designed to operate in a diverse range of industries and to be able to serve all batch, continuous, or semi-continuous processes.Request a Quote Supplied by Babcock Wanson (UK) Ltd -
