Engineers' Squares

A machinist square or engineers’ square is the metalworkers' equivalent of a try square, where a try square is used in woodworking or a metalworking tool for marking and measuring. Engineers’’ squares are made of steel and consists of two welded sections set at 90°. Squares tools which have similar functions include combination square, machinist square, set square, steel square and speed square. Engineers' squares are used by engineers to check for squareness or to mark out the body of the workpiece. They are also commonly used in fields of metalworking, forestry, woodworking, science and medicine.
