Injection Moulding
Injection moulding is a common manufacturing process used to produce really high volumes of the same object, so it lends itself well to mass production. Injection moulding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting material into a mould. It works by putting material (usually thermostatic resin) into a heated barrel where it is mixed, forced into a mould cavity, where it then cools and hardens taking on the form of the cavity. Although the most common material used in Injection Moulding is thermostation resin, injection moulding can be used with a host of materials including glass, elastomers, confections and thermosetting polymers. Today, injection moulding is the most common method of manufacturing plastic parts.
