Amelec Instruments

Originally formed in February 1975, AMELEC remains a wholly owned British manufacturing and design company. The instrumentation that AMELEC offers to the market place is based on analogue techniques, using readily available discrete components.

Therefore all the monitoring is in real time. The instruments contain no time dependent or microprocessor circuitry and are suitable for use in SIL level 1, 2 or 3 rated safety systems/loops & are covered up to 10 year warranty. With a variety of process control systems available, it is often necessary to convert an input signal into a format that your system will accept.

The design & everyday application engineering principles used in the instruments are based on well tried and proven in use for over 40 years in linear operational and amplifier circuitry. Each unique, custom built analogue instrument can be considered as a number of functional blocks assembled together to produce a specific process control function.

A signal conditioner / transmitter would comprise of an input circuit, a modulator / demodulator stage, an output circuit and the power supply/regulation circuitry. A trip amplifier might use the same input circuit, but this time a comparator and relay driver stage plus the power supply / regulation circuitry is used.

By combining these functional blocks together we have produced a comprehensive range of trip amplifiers, transmitters, signal converters / isolators, combined trip transmitters, arithmetic (add / subtract / select / multiply / divide) units, power supplies, strain gauge, frequency & AC I/V transducers. On top of all that, we also manufacture hart compatible units.

The circuit building blocks we use today are essentially the same as the ones we have used for the last 35 years and still providing reliable instrumentation for system, maintenance, reactive engineers and more. Signal conditioners take signals from an assortment of field instruments such as thermocouples and RTDs and convert those signals into any of several standard instrument signals (1…5V, 4…20 mA, etc.).

Signal conditioners are also beneficial to the accurate transfer of these signals, isolation and the elimination of ground loops. To confirm that the instruments are compliant with the latest standards, AMELEC have submitted a range of instruments with all the various circuit blocks in them to the several test houses.

    5 Digit Process Digital Indicator/Controller - APM489-5

    Our APM489-5 has a 5 digit red LED high-brightness display and measures the linear signal 0-10V or 0(4)-20mA. (Other input ranges are available on request)

    The supply is a standard 115/230Vac and we also provide a 24Vdc Loop Excitation supply.

    Furthermore options available inculde either a built-in square root function or the ability to have up to 4 relay trip set points and an analogue 0-10Vdc or 4-20mA Output.

    They can be programmed individually to be:

    • High / Low / High latch / Low latch / Energised with
    • Start delay / Hysteresis / Energised & De-energised delay functions or to be remote control. 

    We also provide an IP65-66 rubber front cover for our digital panel process meters if required (view iamges).

    The APM489-6 is a 6 digit non-microprocessor Pulse Counter Meter with red LED high-brightness display and is a high stability & low cost panel meter.

     It is suitable for Pulse input (other input types available on request) and has a standard 115/230Vac supply (24Vdc supply option available on request)

    Our AEC250 is a Din Mounted AC Current or Voltage Transmitter that provides easy installation and is suitable for combinations of Process Inputs & Outputs.

    It also has a true universal AC/DC supply, voltage range 21V through 265V AC or DC.

    4-20mA is the factory default input range, with other voltage and current input & output ranges available on request

    Our ASC-CT is an AC Current Split-Core transformer that is suitable for most Motor/Heating element current monitoring and AC current signal conditioning of up to 300A. 

     

    It allows for non-intrusive monitoring and it is perfect for use in motor / heating element current monitoring.

    The current input can be perfectly suited to your application as we can provide various range from 5Amp AC up to 300Amp AC. (Other intermediate ranges available on request)

    Configure Output:

    1. Current = 2000:1 Ratio (0-50A = 0-25mA)
    2. Voltage = Any range up to 25Vac (0-50A = 0-1Vac). Please enter output in textbox.

    It also has a 15 turn potentiometer, with a response time less then <400mS and has a true universal AC/DC supply, voltage range 21V through 265V AC or DC.

    We also manufacture a dual output version which is the AEP453EP.

    Our ASC451LP SPLIT CORE AC TRANSDUCER – with the benefits of being both DIN rail mountable or surface. As well as utilising a split-core design to allow for quick and simple retrofitting. It’s loop powered technology reduces wiring and improves efficiency by not relying on a separate power source.

    The AC transducers have been designed for use within a variety of current monitoring tasks – from fan to motor to heating! It’s also perfect for general AC current signal conditioning. Our transducer is fully approved by Network Rail (086/036401) and has been praised for its non-intrusive monitoring.

    Their unique snap closed design allows easy connection around conductors and has a current input span which can be specified in the ranges of: 0 -20A, 0-30A, 0-40A, 0-50A, 0-100A, 0-200A, 0-300A.

    All AMELEC manufactured instruments are supplied fully calibrated, traceable to national standards

    The AEC237 AC/DC 2 Wire Signal Transmitter is suitable for various of process inputs & outputs and provides a 15V input loop excitation.

    The standard input signal is a 4~20mA but other ranges are on request.

    Other inputs include 0-10mA, 0-20mA and 1-5mA.

    The AEC901-1 is an AC/DC Power Supply manufactured in our ultra slim 22.5mm DIN rail mounting instrumentation and suitable for combinations of Process Inputs & Outputs.

    It comes with a true universal ac/dc supply voltage 20V through 265V ac/dc.

    It has an output of up to 24Vdc @ 21mA current drive.

    The AEC220 is an AC/DC RTD Signal Transmitter that offers any 2 or 3 wire RTD or Resistance change.

    The input PT100 3 wire range is up to 850°C.

    The output current is configured as a source port as standard,

    but on request can be configured as a sink port for up to 22mA @30V max.
