Ancorite provides refractory lining services for SABIC’s Teesside Gas Cracking Project
10 October 2017Ancorite Surface Protection Ltd has recently completed refractory lining services associated with the Teesside Gas Cracking Project, SABIC UK Petrochemicals multi-million pound overhaul of the Olefins 6 plant at Wilton. The overhaul represents a major investment in the Teesside chemical industry, with Ancorite working alongside Doosan Babcock, Jacobs and other leading contractors, to upgrade the seventeen ethylene furnaces on the plant.
The Olefins 6 upgrade will allow the plant to utilise ethane gas imported from the USA amongst other feedstocks. New burners have been fitted and Ancorite fitted more than one thousand new ceramic burner quarls, sixty on each of fourteen furnaces and one hundred and forty-four quarls on two further furnaces. Ancorite also carried out refractory repairs and maintenance emerging from the upgrade.
Planning for Ancorite’s role in the project was complex with the refractory programme starting in late 2015 and completion in early 2017. The company is continuing to provide refractory services for SABIC UK Petrochemicals Ltd.
