We operate one of the largest metal presswork production facilities in the South of England with power presses ranging in capacity from 6 to 100 tonne. Our presses are equipped for automatic coil and strip feeding of materials upto 5mm thick using progressive, compound & single op tooling. Materials catered for include steel, brass, beryllium copper, stainless steel and aluminium. We have the capacity for high volume production of medium sized items such as automotive brackets as well as smaller items such as electronic and electrical connectors. Using our in-house tooling we can offer both small orders and prototypes without major tooling costs.

Automated Coil Fed Production
We are capable of running high volume production through automated coil fed machines running several shifts across multiple machines to fulfill large batch production orders quickly.
Single Stage Pick & Place Presswork
Single stage secondary operations can be carried out by our machine operators for large components not suited to progressive or auto lines or where immediate quality control and inspection is desirable.
We offer deep drawing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials up to a depths of 6".
On the larger machines such as the Rhodes RH 100 we have tool protection systems in place to reduce damage from component ejection failure which minimises the potential damage to expensive and critical tooling components.
Where required we carry out deburring using a ceramic stone medium in a large vibrating machine with ID22, a combined degreasing and anti-rusting agent.
Transfer Of Existing Tooling
We are frequently requested to identify and collect existing customer tooling from all over the country and are experienced with modifying them to suit our own presses.
Press Tool Design, Manufacture & Storage
Claridge design and build most of our own tooling in-house although we do have close ties with local tool makers. Our customers tools are maintained in a large well maintained fully insured tool library. Claridge can manufacture tooling to customers bespoke drawings as well as developing tooling directly from prototypes and provide design assistance to ensure an economical product. We are experienced with accepting existing tooling and modifying them to suit our own presses.
Claridge offer a full inhouse tool making service undertaking the manufacture of dies for blanking, punching, bending & deep drawing including single & multiple operation dies, as well as single station & progressive dies. We can manufacture tools to customer drawings as well as reverse engineering from existing components.
Services such as pre-fabricated sub-assembly which can be supplied track-side can be undertaken on site for both short term low volume work as well as long term high volume production and incorporated into a Kanban or JIT system. We offer a wide range of services from component assembly, welding, bonding, special packaging, pop riveting, and orbital riveting through to bespoke jig based assembly for complex parts such as springs, electrical & mechanical units and bearings.
We undertake welded fabrication of both pressed parts and those formed through other processes, which include box sections, tube, bar and flat bar as well as free issue material. We work with all materials and can lift up to 100kg although we are better suited to low weight & low volume work. All welded fabrication can be finished to specification as part of the service and delivered to site.
Our facilities include 3 dedicated Mig welding bays for ferrous materials, which are also suited for heavy metalwork, as well as facilities for fine limit work using Mig, Tig and spot welding on such materials as aluminium and stainless steel.
We carry out low to medium volume sheetmetal work up to 2mm thick and 2.5m long in mild and stainless steel as well as aluminium to customer specification. We operate a 100 tonne Pearson brake press with Redmond tooling which include tools for Dutch folding, curling, radius forming, rib forming, hemming, box forming, shallow offsets, channelling and flanging. Typical applications include architectural facades & signwork, enclosures, housings and shelving, for the point of sale and shop fitting trades.
