From this position it developed a strong reputation in the steam and combustion markets, expanding the range of services to include statutory boiler inspections, repairs. pipework and turn-key installations.

Our focus is preventative maintenance and the efficient and reliable operation of a boiler throughout its life cycle. Concentrating on servicing clients needs, JBC provide a contract maintenance, bespoke to customer requirements, ranging from one burner service per year, to daily boilerhouse checks.
Minimising the likelihood of breakdown and costly disruption to production by pinpointing potential component failure, we provide a cost effective, reliable service to clients conscious of expensive outages and production losses by incorporating statutory annual inspection, non destructive testing and 24/7 emergency support.
Boiler maintenance teams carry out preparations for Statutory Annual Boiler Insurance Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing on all types of shell and waste heat boilers and pressure vessels.
Detecting problems before the arrival of the insurance surveyor and early rectification saves both downtime and costly disruption to production.
Our engineers will spot and repair structural problems found in the boiler shell, furnace or tubes prior to the inspection and repair them, there and then. They will stay on site during the inspection in case of additional repairs such as a tube end cap or d-patch, which will be corrected by our ASMEIX coded welders. On completion, we reassemble the boiler, fill it with water and complete a working pressure test to satisfy the surveyor.

The hotter the water the better! However pump cavitation can be a problem at higher temperatures. A hotwell should be correctly designed to mix returning hot condensate with cold 'make up' water. This means that cooler water is entering the boiler which will require more heat energy to bring the boiler water up to operating temperature. Depending on the amount of condensate returning, steam injectors are used to raise the water temperature in the hotwell, which also means less anti-corrosion chemicals are required.
Snowden's carry out hotwell surveys and make recommendations for improvements. New 'bespoke' hotwells are individually designed, manufactured and installed. Our sister company, JBC can also recommend other energy saving solutions.
Typical boiler high fire exit flue gas temperatures are approximately 250 degrees celsius. This heat can be utilised to pre-heat the feedwater entering the boiler. The hotter the water entering the boiler, the less fuel energy is required to bring the water in the boiler up to operating temperature.
Essentially an economiser transfers waste heat from the boiler flue gases into the incoming feedwater from the hotwell. Water not going into the boiler is transferred back to the hotwell.
Minimum savings of 5% can rise further, subject to individual applications to 7-8%.

JBC have worked with major food manufacturers across the UK on the servicing and maintenance of the burners on their ovens, including air flotation ovens, air impingement ovens, baking ovens and coil coated ovens. Prioritising regular service and preventative maintenance, greatly reduces the risk of downtime through mechanical failure of the burner.
Experienced engineers look after Bakkavor Double D ovens, Spooner, Imaforni, Lincat, Haas, Eclipse, Doughnut fryers and Riello burners to ensure production remains in constant operation.
Snowden's can fabricate pressure vessels and vacuum vessels in Carbon and Stainless Steel and are constructed to either ASME VIII and PD5500: 2012 standards and manufactured in line with PED.
Our pressure and vacuum vessels are used for offshore and onshore applications and include: Hyperbaric Chambers, Diving Chambers and Systems, Heat Exchangers, Evaporators, Autoclaves, Condensers, Steam Accumulators, Deaertors, Clarifiers, Autoclaves, Test equipment, Manufacturing, Separators and Process Vessels.

The divers Decompression Chambers typically contain an entry lock, medi-lock, bunks and seats and are manufactured in diameters ranging from 1600mm to 2000mm.
Our Decompression Chambers and Hyperbaric Chambers are manufactured to PD5500 and Quality Standard ISO 9001:2008, are CE marked and built in accordance with the European Pressure Directive (PED). All Storage Tanks and Feed Water Tanks are made to customers' specific requirements in terms of materials, size, shape, capacity and connections.
We fabricate Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel Storage Tanks, single or double skin and fully bonded if required. Vessels are shop fabricated up to 4 metres in diameter by 20 metres long and site built up to 15 metres in diameter by 15 metres high. The tanks can be built with integral heating and cooling systems.
Feed water tanks can be fabricated between 0.5 cubic metres and 60 cubic metres in either stainless or carbon steel. The tanks are stiffened and include all manways and nozzles with either flanged or threaded connections.
Snowden's provide a pipework fabrication and installation service to suit all operational and process requirements. Pipework and steel chimney fabrication can be carried out within our workshop, or onsite, utilising a variety of materials including stainless and carbon steels. We offer a design service, including guidance on material specification, pipe routes, support requirements and advice on Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) implications. Projects range from stand alone pipework fabrication through to high and low pressure system packages including vessel manufacture, steelwork, access and safety systems. In addition we provide modular pipework solutions such as pre-assembled pipe-racks (PAR’s), pre-assembled units (PAU’s), and skid or container mounted units.
