Metals - Strand Annealing Furnaces

Meltech Engineering has specialised in the design and manufacture of strand annealing and heat treatment furnaces for stainless steel, titanium and complex alloys for over 35 years.

Meltech Engineering's range of strand annealing furnaces are based on the ‘low thermal mass’ principle and feature multi-zone temperature control up to 1,300ºC. Available in a range of sizes with a choice of heating element materials such as Kanthal APM, for processing wires typically 0.5mm  6mm diameter, the furnaces can be customised to fine tune temperature zoning and increased element operational life.

Heat Conditioning and Treatment
Meltech manufactures bespoke heat conditioning and treatment furnaces including bell furnaces for the wire and cable industry, aerospace and general metal processing industries, for applications up to 1,500ºC. The furnaces are characterised by the use advanced ceramic and insulation materials to give 90% thermal efficiency, leading to more consistent and manageable heating across the length of the furnace and reduced furnace heating running cost.

Metals - Coiling Systems

Meltech Engineering designs and manufactures automated coiling and winding systems for extruded metal products. These are available as standard and bespoke designs and offer semi and fully automated operation for accurate winding and coiling at up to 150 metres per minute.

In semi and fully automated production the Meltech winding equipment coils continuously at full production speed even during transfer of the tube or profile to another reel for coiling while a full reel is removed. It allows extrusion machines to operate at faster speeds continuously, maximising extrusion throughout.

Cable & Wire - Extrusion Systems

Meltech has developed a new approach to extruding and manufacturing silicone rubber coated, single and multi-core wires, and low-halogen jacketed cables.

The Meltech process is a complete production line, requiring less space yet achieving higher production speeds than existing manufacturing techniques. In combination with Meltech’s automated pay-off and coiling machines, manufacturers can expects to achieve typical production speeds of up to 140 metres per minute

Cable & Wire - Winding & Coiling

The highly competitive market in wire and cable manufacture make a powerful case for automated take up and pay-off machines.

The multi reel Meltech machines are designed for continuous production of data communications and LAN cables, general wiring and heat shrink and wire tubing applications. They offer accurate winding profiles, enabling a smoother pay-off for faster operation without risk of tangles and snags.

Offering speeds up to 1,500 metre per minute, the coiling and winding machines provide improved winding control, layering, and speed and length control at point of changeover, compared with manual winding. Available in drum sizes from 400mm to 1,600mm, the Meltech machines can be readily integrated within an existing wire production line.

Plastics Coiling Machinery

Working closely with its clients Meltech has designed innovative plastics coiling solutions which have boosted productivity and increased profitability.

Designed for plastic pipes and profiles, as well as complex profiles such as those used in a wide range of markets including food packaging, agriculture and medical equipment, Meltech machines are high speed, twin head winding machines capable of speeds of up to 400m per minute.

In semi-automated operation the winding machine operator manually removes the full reel and replaces it with an empty reel. When fully automated the winding system allow automatic changeover of the winding reels ensuring continuous production of extruded plastics. It includes discharge conveyors from the machine which take the reels through to a pallet stacking machine. It also allows plastics manufacturers to use larger reels far bigger than those that could be handled by an operator
