LGV C1+E Training

Need to tow a trailer at the back of your van or truck?  Then you will need to pass either the B+E or C1+E test.

Van or trucks that are heavier than 3.5kg are C1 vehicles. So if that type of vehicle is your prime mover then as well as LGV C1, you will need the C1+E entitlement on your licence.

Civil engineers towing mini diggers or mini excavators, Arboreal Specialists and Tree Surgeons towing chippers and mulchers. Recovery vehicle drivers and Recreational Vehicles towing leisure craft, cars, motor bikes or boats behind their RV's may all need the C1+E entitlement.

We also deliver training for RDT - Rapid Deployment Trailers often used by breakdown and recovery service supplies.

Horseboxes, Transporters and Trailers Training

Our various locations for training suit clients with a need for local training. Our flexible timetable means we can usually ensure driver training times suit your schedule and events by offering either intensive courses or single days of training to a timetable

Licence to drive Recreational Vehicles and Luxury Motor Homes

With developments in luxuriously equipped RV’s, clients often contact us once they find the weight and size of the vehicle is more than their car licence will allow them to drive.

Many of the bigger American and some British and European Touring Motor Homes are over 3.5 tonnes so you must have Category C1 to drive them which can be a problem for anyone who obtained their UK licence after January 1997.

B+E - Van / 4x4 Trailer Training

If you obtained your car licence after January 1997 you will need to take trailer training and sit a DSA driving test to acquire B+E entitlement as new drivers may drive a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW) with a 750kgs GVW trailer which may not be big enough for your purpose.

ADR Training- Carrying Dangerous Goods by Road

Drivers need to understand and must comply with legislation to help keep the transportation of dangerous goods safe. Legislation is in place to ensure drivers gain specialist knowledge and skills and understand the practical application of specific health and safety techniques.

Employers are responsible for making sure existing staff are fully qualified and that new staff have already or are willing to gain relevant qualifications.

Anyone new to the qualification will need an INITIAL course. Existing ADR holders can take REFRESHER courses. Certificates are valid for 5 years. In the final year prior to expiration, a short re-certification course re-qualifies the driver for a further 5 years.  CALL 020 8453 3440 for next available dates and cost of training

PCV Bus and Coach Training

When you pass a PCV test on a manual gearbox coach, you have passed the top PCV licence and you can drive any Passenger Carrying Vehicle regardless of the number of seats or the type of body, i.e. single or double-decker, service bus or saloon coach body, automatic gear box or manual, and minibuses.

It's good to have the top PCV licence for a wider range of job opportunities.

However, if you are planning to work with one of the local bus companies you may find it easier to get your Automatic PCV  licence which will save you money too!.

Wallace School of Transport's Manual Coach and Minibus is based at Wembley and our Automatic Bus training is available at Wembley, Enfield and Croydon

PCV D Automatic Bus Training

Many people choose an Automatic Bus Licence because driving a vehicle fitted with an automatic gear box is quicker and easier to learn to drive than a manual gear box.
There are plenty of opportunities for working as a bus driver. For example, all London's Red Buses are automatics.

The licence is not affected by the number of seats or the type of body (i.e. single decker or saloon coach body) and passing on a single deck vehicle will still give you a licence to drive a double decker.

PCV D1 Minibus Training

If you obtained your UK car Licence before January 1997, you may hold restricted D1 entitlement to drive a minibus for Social and Pleasure but not for paid work (Hire and Reward). However, for starting a job driving a Minibus (or a Limousine with more than 8 passengers) you’ll need to pass a PCV D1 driving test.

Although there are some exceptions, e.g. for volunteers age 21 or over driving small minibuses for Not for Profit organisations, but in most instances DVLA consider that if a minibus is used for public transportation, drivers of these vehicles must conform to the same legislation as a driver seeking employment with the licence.

PCV Minibus and Trailer - D1+E Training

If you need to carry more baggage or equipment like canoes, kayaks, camp gear and tents then towing a trailer may be the answer for you.

Indeed, drivers and tour guides working at holiday companies, or youth workers and scout/guide leaders often re-approach us having passed their minibus test when they need to upgrade their D1 entitlement for trailer entitlment.

If your minibus is full of passengers and there is no space left for luggage and equipment, the obvious solution is to house it all in a trailer and tow it behind the vehicle as it continues along to your site or holiday destination
