Network Switches
Network switches are also known as bridging hub, switching hub is a networking device which allows 2 or more devices on a computer network to connect with each other and transfer data. A network switch forwards data only to the destination devices and unlike less sophisticated network hubs doesn’t transmit data from each of its ports. Although network switched and their functions may appear like a router, these are separate devices intended to perform different functions. A network switch allows data transfer between computer devices on a single network, whereas on the other hand a router directs the flow of data packets between different networks. Normally routers, network switches and network hubs are all used in any network.
