Wing Nuts

A wing nut (or wingnut) is a but type which has two “wings” on either side which allows for it to be easily loosened or tightened by hand without the use of any tools. They are commonly used in applications where frequent adjustment and tightening by hand is necessary, particularly for the purpose of speed and convenience. Common types of wing buts include stainless steel wing nuts, zinc plated wing nuts, and hex head wing nuts. Wing nuts are used when convenience and speed is favoured over strength, in a wide range of applications including marine, particularly boats.
