Retainers

Retainers are simple but vital components, usually made from rubber, that are used in conjunction with any type of rubber seal, such as V-ring rubber seals, oil seals and shaft seals. As their name suggests, a retainer holds the seal in place. Retainers keep seals securely in position and offer a level of protection to the seal, which in turn is doing the same for the piece of machinery or shaft it is attached to. All types of rubber seals have retainers that are specifically designed for use with them. For example, V-ring retainers and oil seal retainers. Retainers are very basic components but they are a very important part of the sealing process which protects machinery of all types in various applications and industries from having its performance compromised by contamination.
