Sand Casting

Sand casting is a metal casting process that uses sand as the mould material and is a process that creates over 70% of all metal castings. It is a type of casting that is only undertaken in specialised factors which are known as foundries. There methods of sand casting are known as green sand casting, air set method, cold box, vacuum moulding, fast mould making process (including mechanised sand moulding, automatic high pressure sand moulding lines and horizontal sand flask moulding) and no bake moulds. Sand casting is used in manufacturing and production to create cast iron and steel parts of various sizes where precision and smoothness are the main objectives.
