Small Road Freight

Small road freight or light haulage describes small haulage and LTL (less than loads) transport for short-distance travel throughout the UK and some European travel. We use this category for the transport of goods up to 2 x Euro pallets or items of less than 2,250mm and 1,250mm. For larger packages, we use Road Freight, and for same-day and next-day requests, we use Express Couriers. The collection and delivery of small goods via road freight is a flexible and cost-effective option for businesses and the general public. This service is usually conducted in small vans or cars and provided by large international companies, specialist logistics providers, couriers or local ‘man with a van’ type businesses. Small or light road freight is generally conducted on a door-to-door basis. Small road freight can be organised and dispatched quickly. It is most effective for the handling of palleted goods, boxes or loose items. It is often one of the cheapest means of transporting goods as many small deliveries can be grouped in one van heading to the same or similar destinations.
