Epichlorohydrin rubber (ECO) has similar properties to other rubbers such as nitrile rubber. It does have better resistance to heat, oil and petrols. Its qualities and benefits are:
- A lower gas permeability and better low temperature flexibility that products such as NBR.
- It has an excellent level of resistance to acids, alkalis and ozone.
- Epichlorohydrin Rubber has poor compression characteristics and as such has limits as a sealing material. It has a corrosive effect on metals and can increase tooling costs.
- Typical applications are in vehicle fuel systems, fuel bladders, rollers and diaphragms.
- It’s typical working temperature range: -35°C to +125°C
