Coil Springs
Coil springs are mechanical devices which store and release energy, maintain force between connecting surfaces or absorb shock. Coil springs are made from elastic material which is shaped into a helix, which has a memory and returns to its natural shape after the release of tension. Types of coil springs include tension/extension coil springs, buckling springs, compression coil springs, torsion springs and volute springs.
