Light Sensors

Light sensors, also known as photoelectric sensors, are devices that are used to detect the absence or presence of an object, and the distance that the object is away from the source. Light sensors do this using a photo transmitter, which is usually infrared, and a photoelectric receiver. Types of light sensors include colour and colour contrast photoelectric sensors, distance photoelectric sensors and laser photoelectric sensors. The most common type of light sensors are optical (or slot) photoelectric sensors. Light sensors have a vast range of uses in both domestic and industrial applications, from security lighting to ambient lighting controls.
