Barristers

A Barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions who works at higher levels of court, specialising in specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. The role of a Barrister includes handling cases in superior courts and tribunals, drafting legal pleadings, researching the philosophy, hypothesis, and history of law, and giving expert legal opinions. Barristers are not to be confused with Solicitors (Solicitors have more direct access to clients) since they are rarely hired by clients directly and usually employed by a senior solicitor. One easy way to distinguish a barrister from a solicitor is the fact that a barrister wears a gown and wig. Also known as barrister-at-law or bar-at-law, Barristers are also recognised as legal scholars. Barristers are needed to defend clients in court, this involved pleading the case on behalf of their clients in front of a judge.
