Casting

Casting is a manufacturing process which involves liquid being poured into hollow cavity mould to create a shape. In casting the liquid is cooled and allowed to solidify to create a desired shape which is then ejected or broken out of the mould. The benefit of casting is that it can make shapes which are usually difficult to create. Types of casting materials are metals and other cold-setting materials that are cured when two materials are mixed, these include concrete, plaster, clay and epoxy. Casting applications include transport (Automobile, railways, aerospace, and shipping), Heavy Equipment (construction, mining and farming), Machine Tools (machining, plastic moulding, casting, extrusion, forging, and forming) and Defence (vehicles, storage, artillery, and supporting equipment).
