CNC Turning
Turning is a machining process where a cutting tool, typically a non-rotary tool bit, moves more or less linearly while the workpiece rotates. The result is helix toolpath. Turning can be done manually, in a traditional form with a lathe (which usually requires continuous supervision by the operator) but can also be automated. The most common type of such automation is CNC (computer numeric control), where the turning process is controlled by computers. Initially the computers may well look like a standard PC, but they actually have unique software specific to the CNC turning process. CNC Turning is a branch of engineering demonstrated in cars, Smartphones, and aircraft.
