Orbital Welding

Orbital welding is a specialist type of welding, whereby the arc is rotated mechanically 360° around a static workpiece (like a metal pipe) in continuous activity. The process is subject to a very low error rate because it is computer controlled and requires very little operator input. This means that orbital welding is optimum for high-quality, high-volume welding. Control system, power source, water cooler, weld head and track ring are the system components of the orbital welding system. Orbital welding equipment is 5-10 times higher than normal welding equipment, however, the productivity is higher (2-3 times) making orbital welding the best for bulk welding jobs. In fact, orbital welding was originally invented for the aircraft industry and continues to be a popular tool in the industry today as well as in aerospace, medical, automotive, power and medical industries.
