    Electronic circuit protector type ESX10-TC is designed to ensure selective disconnection of DC 12 V load systems.

    DC 12 V power supplies, which are widely used in industry today, will shut down the output in the event of an overload with the result that one faulty load in the system can lead to complete disconnection of all loads. As well as an unidentified failure this also means stoppage of the whole system.

    Through selective disconnection the ESX10-TC responds much faster to overload or short circuit conditions than the switch-mode power supply. This is achieved by active current limitation. The ESX10-T limits the highest possible current to 1.3 to 1.8 times the selected rated current of the circuit protector. Thus it is possible to switch on capacitive loads of up to 20,000 µF, but they are disconnected only in the event of an overload or short circuit.

Focus application of this device is the minus switching of loads widely used in telecommunications in power supply systems with rated voltage DC -48V and DC -60V. The additionally available overcurrent protection, realised by means of electronic current limitation and electronic disconnection, reliably prevents the destruction of electronic sub- assemblies or load lines by overload or short circuit. In addition, the electronic current limitation helps to prevent high currents flowing in the event of a short circuit, which could cause undesired voltage dips and lead to system crashes.

    The type ESX50D-Sxx is an electronic circuit protector capable of communication, which forms the intelligent power distribution system ControlPlex® type SVS201-CP together with the bus terminal controller CPC10 and the power distribution board SVS201-PWR By means of its communication interface, the measuring values recorded by the ESX50D-Sxx will be forwarded to the CPC10 via the proprietary device bus ELBus® and then to a superordinate programmable control unit. This allows flexible adjustment of the current rating and its parameters to the requirements of the system and its direct controllability. So the user can import the relevant information regarding his DC 24 V voltage supply and process it accordingly. The ESX50D-S is available in two different versions. The first version has a rotary switch to allow current rating adjustment directly on the circuit protector in a range from 1 A to 10 A. The second version offers this adjustment feature via a field bus system or a USB service interface.
