PLAST-CONTROL was formed in 1979 and launched its first product the Gravimetric Extrusion control system later that year. Since then we have grown with continuous development of products and new product launches approx. every two years.

Our innovative and class leading system and sensor hardware technologies are used extensively in the blown film extrusion and continuous sheet and profile extrusion industries worldwide.

PLAST-CONTROL UK has represented PLAST-CONTROL GmbH in the UK since 1990 and provides technical consultation services, UK based installation, commissioning, service and after sales support as well as holding comprehensive stocks of spares parts and consumables for the complete product range.

    Gravimetric Loss in Weight Dosing Systems
    Our Plast-Control Gravimetric Loss in Weight Dosing Systems function by working out the level of weight loss between input materials and output product. From this calculation, the dosing system accurately prepares the raw materials and additives for the extrusion process to reduce weight loss and waste of raw materials, thereby increasing the efficiency of the extrusion process and lowering your operating costs.

    Our dosing systems reduce the level of scrap left over following each production run, keep material feed rates constant during the extrusion process, and provide a precise record of all materials used. The dosing systems operate with the Plast-Control Extrusion Control system and work with all types of continuous extrusion process using free flowing materials.

  2. Internal Bubble Cooling

    Internal Bubble Cooling
    Our internal bubble cooling systems use ultra-high speed proximity sensors in order to regulate the cooling air flow and direct it to particular parts of the blown film tube. At Plast-Control UK we offer the PRO-SONIC IBC Control system, that utilises high-speed analogue data collection methods to establish the diameter of the bubble several times each second during the cooling process.

    Having calculated the diameter of the bubble our systems use a stepper throttle valve or air feed fan control to regulate the condition of the blown film tube. Our internal bubble system is designed for use with our PRO-CAGE calibration baskets, and offers a swift start-up time.

  3. Off-Line Profile Measurement

    Off-Line Profile Measurement
    We at Plast-Control UK offer an Off-Line Profile Measurement System in the form of the PRO-LAB II Flexible Film Gauge Scanner. The scanner measures the thickness of blown film during the extrusion process and is fully compliant with the quality standards for the determination of plastics thickness laid out in ISO 4593.

    The scanner is designed for ease of use and can be operated via touch screen. It features two separate sensors that can be used in conjunction or separately depending on whether you need to use the scanner for quick checks during the production process or for more comprehensive quality control measurements. All data taken from the Off-Line scanner can be stored on PC.

  4. Pro-Batch

    Pro-Batch
    Compared to the continuous dosing,  the  batch blender works according to the „gain-in-weight“- principle. The material gate opens for a pre-determined time and registers the gain in weight in the weighing chamber. When the batch is complete, the material is discharged and mixed in the mixing chamber. The accuracy is of ±  0.3%.

    The calibration cage is possibly one of the most important items in regard to the influence it has on film quality and profile tolerance.

    The PRO-CAGE range of cages offers an innovative design with a rigid construction and precision control of the cage position throughout the operational range. Two types are offered, the M series with high precision double pivot self centering, easily exchangeable rollers and L series with single pivot operation. Both devices feature a choice of roller surfaces for different applications.

    The PRO-CESS operator concept allows a simple graphical touch screen control of your entire extrusion process, including extruder drives, temperatures, blower controls, calibration cage, collapsing frame, haul-off and treater. The NAVIGATOR can be adapted easily to new lines, upgrades or retrofits irrespective of the original equipment manufacturer. PLAST-CONTROL produces many electronic components and ist own software package in-house, which sets us apart from on-going technology obsolescence in the ever evolving computer world. This enables us to provide our customers complete service and spare parts for all our products for many years along with a migration to the future product. NAVIGATOR is simple to use, and includes an alarm handling feature which clearly shows errors and helps the operator quickly address them. This flexible solution for existing extrusion lines, as well as for new lines, enables you to implement an identical operation philosophy throughout your entire company. NAVIGATOR is available in many languages. Safety functions can easily be integrated as well, and will prove their functionality on the occasion of any modifications we make.
  7. Pro-Clean and Pro-Drain

    Pro-Clean and Pro-Drain
    PRO-CLEAN comes with a complete new design of the continuous working gravimetric hoppers and conveying system with the target to reduce cross contamination (or imperfections in the film surface). Dust and sometimes residue material remain in the dead zone areas and cause the need for a time consuming cleaning process.

    Pro-Con
    As one of the pioneers in the development of automatic systems for the reduction of transverse direction (TD) profile tolerances, PLAST-CONTROL has continuously developed and refined its systems.
    Our Profile Control systems utilize the profile measurement devices and transmit profile data to the computer. The software calculates and carries out the correct positioning of the actuators which, in turn, control air flow through the segmented air ring.
    Functionally the computer opening or closing of actuators within the PRO-CON air ring will increase or decrease the volume of air in each segment. This influences the melt temperature and in turn the film thickness during film blowing step.

    An additional output increase becomes possible by using PLAST-CONTROL’s double air ring technology, PRO-CON DUO. Mechanical properties can be improved using DUO as well.

    The Electrical controlled upper air ring elevator allows easy adjustment and accessibility. The combination of “improved output – better mechanical properties” ensures a fast return on investment
  10. Profile Control for Blown Film Processes

    Profile Control for Blown Film Processes
    Our Profile Control software utilises algorithm-based technology to provide a regulation system for use with air ring cooling systems. The Profile Control software accurately maps the blown film after production and will correct any deviations from the original design specification such as shrinkages or rotations that have occurred. The Profile Control system will ensure your finished product is of the highest possible quality.

    We offer 3 different Profile Control systems for regulating the thickness of blown film. Our PRO-THERM option uses analogue signals to regulate the hot melt during the extrusion process. Our PRO-JET option varies the levels of additional cooling air following the production phase, whilst our PRO-CON system provides a fast-response system of cooling air to regulate the thickness and thinness of the blown film.
