Thermoseal Group Ltd

Thermoseal Group is dedicated to insulated glass, with its own innovation centre developing new insulated glass components with a focus on energy efficiency. The Group manufactures warm edge spacers in the UK, as well as many other insulated glass components. Supplying over 2,500 insulated glass components, including: sustainable warm edge spacers, aluminium spacer bars and steel spacer bars and accessories; Victorian grille; Georgian style window components; molecular sieve desiccant; sealants; lead; decorative glass bevels and accessories; adhesive tapes; tools for glazing manufacturing, and most other items required for sealed unit manufacture.

  1. It’s time to think big, says Thermoseal Group’s Managing Director
    29 September 2023

Sealed unit manufacturers appear to fall in one of two distinct camps, according to Thermoseal Group’s Owner and Managing Director Gwain Paterson: those who are aware of an increase in demand for triple glazing, and are doing something about it; and those who are aware, but choosing to sit still.

“I’ve genuinely had conversations with customers who have stopped me mid-sentence because they don’t want to think about what they need to do to change their operations if the demand for triple glazing goes through the roof,” Gwain says.

“I suppose they think that if triple glazing is specified more to meet the expected tightening of the regulations in 2025 – where we could see windows having to achieve U-values as low as 0.8W/m2K – then they will be able to make the necessary adjustments. But I have to question that strategy.”

    Growth strategy

Thermoseal Group’s growth strategy has been a continuous one since it was established 44 years ago, first expanding its product range, before growing its manufacturing division, then developing its export strength. This, Gwain says, means the company’s ability to meet the expected increase in triple glazing demand is taken it is stride.

“The business will continue to grow regardless of the move to triple glazing from double glazing,” he says. “But since we expect it to happen (and are already seeing it happen) then it makes sense to factor those requirements into our plans.”

The most popular width of Thermobar is 20mm for a standard double glazed unit, and Thermoseal Group is installing new lines and storage facilities to manufacture and distribute Thermobar in 12mm, 14mm and 16mm widths in preparation for the increase in demand for triple glazing.

According to Thermoseal’s figures, Thermobar is the glazing industry’s most popular warm edge spacer bar. Manufactured and distributed from its modern new facility in Wigan, Thermobar frames can be cut and joined with corner keys, processed on labour saving automated bending equipment, and is PassivHaus approved thanks to it ultra-low thermal values.

    Double quantities

Thermoseal also manufactures Thermoflex flexible spacer bar from the same site, and has recently invested in a third twin-strand extruder, which can produce all thicknesses including 4.8mm, 6.3mm and 7.3mm, and air spaces up to 28mm in twin strand. And because it is quicker than the company’s existing equipment, it can produce more than double the quantity of product per shift on certain product types.

Thermoseal also supplies a range of other products required for the manufacture of sealed units, including corner keys, Georgian bardesiccantprimary and secondary sealant, and cloth tape. All components are tested at the company’s laboratory before distribution, guaranteeing that they all work together effectively for a long-lasting sealed unit.

Recent investment includes new injection moulding machines at the company’s large warehousing facility in Birmingham, new solar panels, new electric vehicles and new product development.

“We now have upwards of 100,000ft2 of factory space in Wigan,” Gwain says. “And along with new tooling, lorries and stillages, we are prepared to keep our customers stocked with the components required to manufacture triple glazed units.

“But we are also growing our export division because regardless of what we expect the triple glazing market to do, we need to keep expanding the business.”

Thermoflex is especially suited to the export market because there's a growing global demand around the world for flexible spacer bar, according to Gwain.

“There are not many companies producing products like that around the world,” he said. “We see governments bringing in legislation to have more efficient windows to keep the heat in and to keep the heat out. This presents a fantastic opportunity for us.

“And with flexible spacer bar, you have the added benefit of automated production, which many overseas customers are developing.

“So, while I’d say that our customers may fall into one of two camps, we sit in a third: continuous growth and expansion that will allow us to service the increased demand for triple glazing as and when it occurs.”

Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table was published on Sunday 21 February 2021 and ranks Britain’s mid-market (total sales of £25m+ and international sales of £1m+) private companies with the fastest growing international sales over the past two years.  The 200 companies include well-known names from across the UK including: The Entertainer Toy Brand, modular building manufacturer Thurston Group and craft beer maker BrewDog. As published, Thermoseal Group has achieved annual international sales growth over two years of an impressive 41% increase supplying to a growing number of countries in 5 continents.

“We are delighted to reach no. 96 in a league with some of the UK’s best-performing businesses” says Gwain Paterson. He continues: “We are extremely pleased with our export successes to date, particularly in Asia where our sales have increased by 174% in the past year.

“Despite the uncertainty in the UK market and fears associated with Brexit, we have invested significant funds into purchasing a new building. This site has now become our ‘Centre for Innovation and Manufacturing’.  It has two new laboratories and additional test rooms to give our technical team everything they need to develop new energy efficient products whilst maintaining the highest quality standards and enhancing our current product portfolio.

“Another vital use of this building has been to house our increased stockholding to help ensure continuity of supply to the UK and export markets to counter supply issues caused by Covid-19 and, of course, Brexit.  Where possible, we have also dual sourced products to counter any delay in sourcing materials that are vital for production.

“Moving into 2021, we have all accepted that we will have to live with the constraints of the Covid-19 virus, but on the basis that we have a list of customers waiting for our production capacity to be increased, we are planning to continue to invest, broaden our product range and grow our warm edge capacity. We have new machinery currently being installed and further equipment on order to increase our capacity further throughout this year. This includes both production of warm edge spacers and an expansion of our ever-growing injection moulding division which currently produces many millions of fittings per year.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for their continued hard work and commitment and thanks to our customers for their continued support.”

  9. Thermoseal Group Achieves the 6th Generation Investors In People Standard
    3 March 2020

Investors in People (IIP) accreditation is an outstanding achievement which leading UK warm edge spacer manufacturer, Thermoseal Group, announces is delighted to have been awarded.

IIP, the standard for people management, has evolved over the years to the current 6th Generation Standard.  It is a tried and tested framework with a rigorous process of assessment that defines excellence in leading, supporting and managing people.

The current standard involves a framework of 9 indicators organised under the three headings of Leading, Supporting and Improving.  Within each of these 9 indicators are 3 criteria, so a total of 27 criteria to demonstrate that the business is a true investor in people. In order to achieve accreditation, a company must meet the standard required within all criteria.  The assessment process involves a complete review of the business including a staff survey and face-to-face interviews with selected members of all teams.  All surveys and interviews are conducted, analysed and reviewed by Investors in People assessors.

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate Thermoseal Group. Being accredited with We invest in people is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Thermoseal Group in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”

Commenting on the accreditation, Gwain Paterson, Managing Director at Thermoseal Group, said: “A business is only as strong as its people, which is why I’d like to thank every member of the Thermoseal Group Team, or as we like to refer to ourselves internally, to all Thermosealians.  At the crux of it, accreditation means that every single person is involved in supporting each other and is doing their best to make our workplace better.

“Over recent years, in line with our business growth, we have invested significant funds into developing our recruitment, training and the overall development of our team.  Our HR Officer, Karen Croke has been working with all teams across the business to ensure that all the HR processes and procedures are in place and is there to support our teams when needed.  As far as training is concerned, every member of staff has a training and development plan in place.  We have also worked with local colleges on Apprenticeship Schemes and have taken a number of apprentices on in various roles.

“Effective internal communication is also a big part of the IIP standard and is key to ensuring that all staff are engaged and involved in achieving business goals.  We recognise that this is vital in our continual strive to enhance the experience that our stakeholders have with Thermoseal Group.  Therefore, with the comprehensive 6th generation IIP framework now an integral part of our management review process and truly at the heart of the business, we hope our customers really can see how hard we are striving to achieve excellence at every level.”

  11. Spacer Bars, Document L, Energy Efficiency and Triple Glazing
    28 January 2020

Thermoseal Group, the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of the largest volume of spacer bars for insulated glass (IG) sealed unit production, gives an insight into the spacer bar market and predicted future trends.

Spacer bars, used primarily to space the panes of glass in double, triple and even quadruple glazing, have seen significant development and a change in market demand over recent years.  There has long-been a widespread decline in the demand for Aluminium spacer bars and an increase in the demand for more energy efficient warm edge spacers which has primarily been brought about by changes in legislation dictating improved energy efficiency in windows.

Mark Hickox, Thermoseal Group’s Sales Director shares some of the Group’s insight.

“Going back ten years, the vast majority of the UK spacer market was for Aluminium spacer. Despite the high level of promotion of warm edge spacers as a market differential, there was only a small market for warm edge spacers until revisions to Document L dictated improved U-values and influenced the introduction of the Window Energy Rating (WER) Scheme.  Since then, the strive for ‘A’ rated WERs and now ‘A+’, ‘A++’ and in some cases even ‘A+++’ rated windows has influenced the specification of warm edge spacers and any window components which contribute towards increased energy efficiency.

“In 2008, we started developing two of the most energy efficient spacer bars available on the worldwide market – Thermobar warm edge spacer tube and Thermoflex flexible warm edge solution. Since then, our trend in sales has seen a continual decline in Aluminium and increase in the demand for our market-leading warm edge spacer bars.

“We supply to the majority of UK IG sealed unit manufacturers and current warm edge sales account for approximately 77% of our spacer bar sales. We foresee sales of Aluminium continuing to decrease as the demand for warm edge spacer bars grows.

“There is likely to be further increase in the UK demand for warm edge spacers and other more energy efficient insulated glass (IG) components which could be escalated by revisions to document L - the current consultation document suggests solutions which may require the specification of triple glazing in new properties. Should this go ahead, the requirement for triple glazing will mean a significantly higher volume of spacer bar and fittings within each IG unit and so greater demand from manufacturers of premium high-performance warm edge products such as ourselves.

“When you consider the worldwide spacer bar market is in excess of a billion metres of spacer per year, there is enough demand that spacer bar manufacturers will really need to raise their game to meet the volumes required by the market.  You may have seen our announcement that we have purchased a new 2-acre production site in Wigan.  This new site is currently going through rapid extensive reconstruction to provide further expansion for our warm edge spacer production and development of our Technical Centre and EN1279 test facilities.  This is just one of the steps we are taking to move towards our goal to become a world leader in the warm edge spacer market.

“There is also the consideration of the corner keys and fittings for spacer bar.  Over the past ten years, our injection moulding division has seen exponential growth and we now produce over 10 million mouldings per year.  As the market grows, we aim to continue to produce our own range of bespoke fittings.

“Staying ahead of the market is vital in the current climate, so our prided Technical Centre and EN1279 Test Centre are continually working to develop and improve our warm edge product offering with a view to designing and developing products to help achieve better and better thermal efficiency in windows. Our Account Managers work very closely with our customers in the development of new products, also in helping to keep them informed about new market influences.  Triple glazing for example, will have major impact on IG sealed unit manufacturers and therefore the implications in terms of logistics, equipment, time and potential costs should already be up for discussion.”

  12. Thermoseal Group Extends its Fleet of Delivery Vehicles
    28 November 2019

As part of their commitment to providing an industry-leading service to its customers, Thermoseal Group has upgraded the first of its extensive fleet of vehicles to a 31 ft. truck.  This will allow the transport of a greater volume of insulated glass components to accommodate larger orders on extended delivery routes.

Since embarking on their ambitious Thermobar and Thermoflex warm edge manufacturing project back in 2010, Thermoseal Group has been continually investing in the infrastructure of the business to meet the increasing volume of sales of their industry-leading energy-efficient products.  This truck, as well as the addition of 26 ft. trucks with sleeper cabins mean that they can deliver a greater volume of larger orders to customers across the UK and Ireland.

Thermoseal Group’s Sales Director, Mark Hickox, says: “As a market leader in the manufacture and supply of spacer bar and a broad range of other IG components, our customers expect us to meet their changing requirements.  With this in mind, we are continually developing the business to ensure that what we have written on the back of our vans – “When Trust is Vital, you can rely on Thermoseal Group to deliver” – continues to resonate as true.

“Extending the size of our trucks is just a small part of what we’re doing to ensure that we can meet the increasing demand for our products. Just this year, we have also completed the installation of an order and tracking system which was the final stage of our 5-year plan to offer a paperless order processing system.   This system, coupled with an earlier-installed barcoding system, means that we can track our products and service from raw material right through the manufacturing process to delivery to the customer, and all by reducing our usage of paper and so minimising our carbon footprint! Then there’s the investment in the Technical Centre, new production equipment, additional buildings, more staff etc. etc.

“The sheer volume of changes brought about by continual investment in Thermoseal Group’s production and infrastructure could keep me talking all day and that’s without our ambitious plans for future growth and development.  It’s exciting to be part of the growth of the business!

“Of course, we couldn’t do any of this without our customers, so I’d like to thank them for their trust and loyalty in continuing to purchase from us and assure them that we will continue to do everything we can to evolve our products and service to meet the changing requirements of the market as a whole.”

Thermoseal Group supplies over 2,500 IG Components and a wide range of IG manufacturing machinery.  Contact them on 0845 331 3950 or Intl: +44 (0) 121 331 3950. Alternatively, visit www.thermosealgroup.com or e-mail us on sales@thermosealgroup.com.

  13. New 2 Acre Warm Edge Spacer Production Site in Wigan
    18 November 2019

As part of Thermoseal Group’s strategy to become a world leader in warm edge spacer market, the Group has purchased a new 2 acre production site in Wigan – the location previously owned by Global Glass.  The new site is on Challenge Way, Martland Park in Wigan, which is a stones-throw from the Group’s other Thermobar and Thermoflex Warm Edge Spacer manufacturing and warehouse sites.

Thermoseal Group Challenge Way site will now see extensive reconstruction to provide further expansion for: warm edge spacer production; development of the Group’s Technical Centre and EN1279 test facilities, as well as enhanced facilities for the growing production team.

“We have been looking for the ideal site for expansion of our production facilities for a while now, so when this site became available so close to our current facilities, it provided the ideal solution.” says Gwain Paterson, Managing Director at Thermoseal Group.

“This Challenge Way development has come just at the right time to ensure that we can continue to meet the increasing demand for our energy efficient product portfolio and meet the likely increase in demand from the UK market brought about by revisions to Document L – the current consultation document suggests solutions which may require the specification of triple glazing in new properties. Should this go ahead, the requirement for triple glazing will mean double the volume of spacer bar and fittings within each IG unit and so greater demand from manufacturers of premium high performance warm edge products such as ourselves.

“The plan now is to sit down with the Wigan team and ensure that the Challenge Way site is designed and developed to maximise production and development of our products whilst providing the best environment for our staff.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their continued business and assure them that we are working to develop our energy efficient products and services to suit the changing market for IG.”

  14. Survey Results Show a Premium Customer Service by Thermoseal Group
    10 September 2019

It is easy to see that it’s not just Thermoseal Group’s award-winning products that keep its customers happy. The outcome of the Group’s 2019 Customer Satisfaction Survey has been outstanding, with 96% of customers rating their overall experience with Thermoseal Group as Excellent.

With now 40 years supplying to the glass and glazing industry offering an ever-growing range of over 2,500 insulated glass (IG) components - most of which are now manufactured by the Group in the UK - Thermoseal Group supplies to customers in over 27 countries across 5 continents.

Its UK and Export Customers were given a short Customer Satisfaction Survey requesting a rating on the service that they receive from all contact with Thermoseal Group.  The survey also included a series of questions prompting feedback on its teams, product offering, as well as an indication of what customers would like to see from Thermoseal Group in the future.  The survey was completed by approximately 10% of the Group’s customer base offering a representative sample of UK and export customers being serviced by all of its UK depots.

The Group’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Samantha Hill, tells us:  “It’s always great to see the results of the customer survey and like every other survey I have seen in my years at Thermoseal Group, this one didn’t disappoint.  With comments like “1st Class Service All Round” and “The knowledge of the sales team is second to none” or perhaps my favourite this year “Amazing Company; can’t fault anything; well done to you all as 10 years ago you were tiny and now are massive. Great work!”

“We have an enviable customer retention rate here at Thermoseal Group and a good solid growth in business from new customers. To ensure this, we monitor customer service on a daily basis and our Customer Relationship Management System provides full details and statistics so that our teams can drive to ensure that if we get it wrong, like everyone does at times, then we put it right as quickly as possible. We are also continually driving to improve our overall customer service offering.

“Since the last survey was conducted in 2017, we have seen the installation of a new order tracking and delivery system at Thermoseal Group which is the final stage of our 5-year plan to achieve paperless sales order processing and a system which ensures a first-class service.

“The 2019 Survey has reinforced our confidence that our customers appreciate our paperless system with comments like “Delivery method of invoicing is excellent” and “Service and delivery are perfect”. Following the implementation of a Centralized Production Control System, then a Bar Coding System as well as an earlier-installed customer e-Order Confirmation System, customers now receive continual order and delivery updates and all documentation is delivered with minimal impact on the environment.  We can also now track our own-manufactured products - 55% of those we supply - back from customer to raw material.

“We also launched a new website earlier in the year, which saw comments like “Super new look”, “Very user-friendly” and “Easy to search and identify products and a good source for product information”.  In addition, 71% of respondents offered to trial our imminent E-Commerce system prior to launch. We will be in touch with those respondents!

“I’d like to say a big thank you to all those customers who completed our Customer Satisfaction Survey.  We have a multitude of suggestions for additions to our product range and some excellent feedback on how we can meet our customers’ future requirements.  If you highlighted something we need to develop or improve on, then we’re on the case.”

As a thank you, Thermoseal Group entered all respondents into a prize draw. The two main Prize Draw winners were presented with an Amazon Echo Smart Speaker with Alexa Control and runners up were presented with a Champagne Prize.

It is also a great opportunity to sit back and enjoy a fun evening of great entertainment with some of the movers and shakers from across the window industry.

As the UK’s leading manufacturer of warm edge spacer systems – Thermobar and Thermoflex - and the leading supplier to the insulated glass (IG) industry, our representatives will welcome attendees and keep the champagne flowing as an introduction to the evening.

Tony Higgin, Managing Director of the G-Awards, Comments: “The value of long term sponsorship cannot be understated, and when it runs for 10 years then it becomes something very special.

“Thermoseal Group has sponsored the Champagne Reception at the G Awards for the past 11 outings over a period of 10 years, and have not only supported the event but continue to promote their involvement at every opportunity.

“It is fair to say without their support, and many like them, the G Awards would not be able to function in the manner it does, and for that, I am very grateful. Long may it continue.”

Our Managing Director, Gwain Paterson adds: “Over the past ten years, we have seen the size and prestige of the G-Awards go from strength to strength.  Congratulations to Tony Higgin and his team for achieving what has become an important date in the window industry calendar.

“The G-Awards is the grand occasion that we look forward to attending every year to provide many of our colleagues and friends with champagne on free-flow and raise a glass to all those shortlisted for an award.  It’s great to be part of as it’s alive with a buzz of anticipation about the up-and-coming awards.

“My best wishes go to those entering the G19 Awards and I’d like to say thank you to all of those across the glass and glazing industry who have supported Thermoseal Group over the years.  I look forward to raising a glass with you on the evening.”

  16. Ever-Expanding Thermobar Warm Edge Spacer and Accessories Range
    28 May 2019

Since the initial introduction of Thermobar Warm Edge Spacer in 2010, Thermoseal Group has been continually expanding its highest performance spacer range to add new products and to develop its selection of bespoke colour-matched fittings.  The full range now includes 338 products manufactured both in the Group’s own continually-expanding spacer bar production facility and by its injection moulding division, which now produces over 10 million mouldings per year.

Just in the past few months, the Group has added a series of new sizes to its highest performance Thermobar Warm Edge range, including: 14.5mm; 18.5mm; 21.5mm and 23.5mm spacers with bespoke corner keys to suit.  These are now available in black, grey and white.  Recent additions also include Thermobar Interbar and fittings in 11.5mm x 22mm and 15.5mm x 22mm sizes which also come in black, grey and white.  Thermobar Interbar is the Group’s alternative to its Duplex fittings range which is used to simulate multipane windows with standard Thermobar Warm Edge Spacer.

“We have seen a continual increase in demand for Thermobar Warm Edge Spacers and now supply to customers in 27 countries across 5 continents” says the Group’s Sales Director, Mark Hickox, “As a result, we have been expanding our spacer bar production facilities to ensure we can manufacture a broad range of sizes and can colour-match our products to suit.  Our Injection Moulding Division has also seen continued investment to develop a broad range of fittings to meet our customers’ diverse requirements.

“The rapid development of our multi-pane window components has been spurred on by changes in legislation across Europe where internal components such as Georgian bar and Interbar and Duplex Systems can now result in Window U-value penalties. Our Thermobar Interbar has been developed using lowest conductivity material to complement our Thermobar range as a replacement for traditional Aluminium more conductive options.

“As a business, we have the advantage of being large enough to manufacture our own products but small enough to react quickly to market demands without the constraints of being controlled by a parent company.  As a result, our latest production addition is a dedicated extrusion line for the manufacture of the expanding range of Thermobar Interbar we offer.  We have also now added a recycling plant to help reduce our carbon footprint.”

Thermobar Warm Edge Spacers and all accessories are fully tested in the Group’s own Technical Centre before being fully tried and tested in IG sealed unit production. Thermobar and Thermoseal Group’s other highest performance warm edge spacer, Thermoflex, are amongst the highest rated in the marketplace.

The Thermobar Warm Edge Spacer range, includes: Thermobar; Thermobar LITE (for units not gas filled); Bespoke colour-matched Corner Keys; Gas Corner Keys (with and without hole); Flexi Keys; Straight Connectors; Gas Collars and Plugs; Thermobar Interbar with fittings and Duplex fittings.

  17. Ian Duckworth Joins Thermoseal Group as Midlands Area Sales Manager
    8 April 2019

Bringing over 30 years of experience working in the Glass and Glazing industry, both in manufacturing and sales roles, Ian Duckworth has joined Thermoseal Group as its Midlands Area Sales Manager covering the Midlands, Wales and South East.

Ian started his career within the glass industry in 1988 working in an insulated glass (IG) manufacturing role. He then moved into a sales role and has spent 20 years selling IG consumables, mainly decorative products to date.

Ian tells us: “I’m delighted to join the Thermoseal Group team as I have watched the significant development of the Group over the past 10-15 years as it has become a market leading warm edge and consumable manufacturer.

“I have known many members of the team for years having met them at events and industry socials where the camaraderie of the Group and their relationship across the industry has always been evident. Having recently spent some time in South East Asia, I also had the opportunity to work with some of the team to promote Thermobar and Thermoflex Warm Edge Spacers. So when the opportunity was presented to me following the retirement of a long-standing member of the sales team, I jumped at the chance.
“I have been at Thermoseal Group a few months now and would like to say how impressed I have been at the respect that the previous Sales Manager, Colin Cook, has built up with our customers having brought vast knowledge and experience to the role. His shoes have not been easy to fill, but I’m happy to have accepted the challenge and will do everything I can to continue with the excellent work he has done whilst bringing my own personality to the mix."

The Group’s Sales Director, Mark Hickox tells us: “Whilst I’d like to wish Colin Cook all the best in his retirement and personally thank him for his years of dedication to our customers, I’m also extremely happy to welcome such a big personality as Ian to the team. I have known Ian for many years and always believed he is a great asset to any team. I know our customers will appreciate his knowledge, experience and overall commitment to the job.”

  18. Introducing the NEW Responsive Website from Thermoseal Group
    12 February 2019

Following over 12 months of development, Thermoseal Group has launched its brand new multifunctional responsive website designed to provide optimal viewing experience across a wide range of Internet browsing devices.

www.thermosealgroup.com now has a wide range of functions to help customers and users within the Group’s supply chain.  Perhaps foremost, the site offers a comprehensive catalogue of well over 2,500 insulated glass components and glass machinery which can be filtered to a specific product within a few clicks using one of the sites’ various product filters.

The new website also provides a wealth of features and product and industry information for sealed unit manufacturers, including:  a Sealed Unit Material & Labour Cost Calculator; a Gas Usage Calculator; a Technical Section with comprehensive Product Technical Information and Material Safety Data; comprehensive information on Warm Edge Technology, Integrated Blinds and Glass Machinery with FAQ and guidelines for those looking to make insulated glass (IG) sealed units; industry events and news information, as well as links to the Group’s multilingual Warm Edge Technology satellite sites.  There is also a range of information and marketing literature suitable for use throughout the supply chain.

Thermoseal Group’s Head of Marketing and Communications said: “We are delighted to launch our brand new website which has been designed based on feedback from our customers and industry contacts.  We have added a variety of features to our new site which is set for continual changes in line with the rapid developments in digital media and internet marketing.  There will be two further additions to the site this quarter, which will be shortly followed by an e-commerce login area giving our customers the facility to order our products any time of day or night.  We anticipate that this will be particularly useful to the increasing number of customers who operate on a different time-zones, but is also a feature requested by many of our current UK customers.

“If you experienced our previous website, you may have used our cost-calculators which have been designed to help IG sealed unit manufacturers to easily calculate their material and labour costs in making each IG unit and provides indicative mark-up margins.  The new site has improved functionality and an easier step-by-step feature on these calculators.  As we are all aware, keeping a firm grip on costs in the current market and monitoring margins is vital, so please feel free to visit our website and see how easy our free calculators are to use!”

Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table was published on Sunday 10 June 2018 and ranks Britain’s mid-market (total sales of £25m+ and international sales of £1m+) private companies with the fastest growing international sales over the past two years. The 200 companies include well-known names from sports car manufacturer Aston Martin and fashion retailer White Stuff to coffee house chain Caffé Nero and craft beer maker BrewDog. As published, Thermoseal Group has achieved annual international sales growth over two years of an impressive 79.46% increase (the average was 62%) supplying to over 27 countries in 5 continents.

“We are both surprised and delighted to reach no. 41 in a league with some of the UK’s best-performing businesses” says Gwain Paterson.  He continues: “Despite fears associated with Brexit, our sales of Thermobar and Thermoflex Warm Edge products have seen significant growth in export markets.  With the uncertainty in the UK market, we are extremely pleased with our export successes to date and intend to continue to grow our technical centre and production facility with the aim of innovating further new products and manufacturing processes specifically designed to meet our customers’ needs.

“The purchase of the stock and assets of the DecraLed portfolio of products has seen expansion of our decorative manufacturing in both our Wigan site and also at our lead manufacturing base in Kent.  These products are popular worldwide and we will continue to invest in developing them further to ensure that they remain market-leading products and help to ensure our continued growth in international sales.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for their continued hard work and commitment and thanks to our customers for their continued support.”

  24. Thermoseal Group Has Gone Paperless!
    18 April 2018

Thermoseal Group has installed a new order tracking and delivery system which is the final stage in achieving a paperless sales order processing service to customers.

As well as doing its bit for the environment, this system provides a multitude of benefits to customers including real-time tracking and satellite location of deliveries, as well as same-day e-mailed delivery notes and invoices.

With 21 vehicles delivering over 2,000 insulated glass components from its 4 UK sites, including two of the industry’s highest performance warm edge spacers – Thermobar and Thermoflex - this new tracking system complements the Group’s earlier-installed bar coding system to ensure that delivery errors are minimised and its teams work together to provide prompt and reliable deliveries.

Gwain Paterson, Thermoseal Group’s Managing Director explains: “All of our drivers are now issued with a device pre-loaded with all deliveries for the day, organised in order of allocated routes. All customer contact details and telephone numbers are also pre-loaded so the driver can contact customers as required.

“Once the items are dispatched, the customer receives an e-mail to say their order is on route. These routes are then tracked from our offices and timings are updated in line with driver location so our sales order processing teams can update customers with when their delivery is due for arrival and notify them of any delays. Satellite navigation also ensures drivers are re-routed to reduce hold-ups.

“On arrival at site the driver has a tick-list of items to be delivered which are checked off with the customer on receipt of the order. As items are selected and signed for on our digital device, this then triggers same-day emails to customers with the delivery note and invoice. The email addresses these are delivered to can be separate e-mail address of customers’ choice.

“This system also means we can keep in constant contact with our drivers. In the interests of our staff wellbeing and also to reduce vehicle down-time we have built additional features into the system, including prompts for vehicle checks where our drivers can log and photograph any issues so that we can arrange speedier vehicle maintenance. We can also make certain that our drivers take adequate breaks.

“As a bespoke addition to this system, we can also track our stillage’s to ensure that these are returned to our manufacturing site for re-filling and re-delivery.

“We would like to extend a big thank you to all those involved in the initial trials of this system.”

  25. NEW Thermobar Interbar in 22mm Profile
    1 March 2018

Thermoseal Group, the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of warm edge spacer systems and over 2,000 insulated glass (IG) components, has introduced new sizes of its Thermobar Interbar to suit warm edge windows incorporating a multipane window system with a 25mm surface mount Georgian bar.

Available to order now, new sizes of Thermobar Interbar (Muntin) include 11.5x22mm and 15.5x22mm Interbar and fittings in black, white and grey.  The Thermobar Interbar range also includes:  6x18mm; 11.5x18mm; 15.5x18mm. All fittings are colour-matched to the highest performance Thermobar Warm Spacer range, but are compatible with all warm edge spacer systems.

We are committed to our customers and seek to provide real solutions to industry problems” says Samantha Hill, Head of Marketing and Communications, “Offering a more energy efficient alternative to Aluminium is currently important in Europe where there is a U-value penalty on windows fitted with Georgian bar and multipane window systems using duplex fittings or Interbar (Muntin).  In the anticipation that U-value penalties may also be applied to UK Window Energy Ratings (WERs), our Technical Centre and production team have been working to expand the Thermobar Interbar range which is made with high-performance engineering plastic similar to that used for our Thermobar Warm Edge Spacers.  Our warm edge multipane window products will help our customers to minimize any penalties.”

Thermobar Warm Edge Spacers and all accessories are fully tested in the Group’s own Technical Centre before being fully tried and tested in IG sealed unit production. Thermobar and Thermoseal Group’s other highest performance warm edge spacer, Thermoflex, have been submitted for independent tests and are amongst the highest rated in the marketplace. Thermobar and Thermoflex have a thermal efficiency value of 0.14W/mK and 0.135W/mK respectively.  These values are shown on Bundesverband Flachglas data sheets for both windows and facades.  Both spacers are included on the Passive House Component Database and achieve an A+ Passive House rating for arctic climates.

The Thermobar Warm Edge Spacer Accessories range, includes: Bespoke colour-matched Corner Keys; Gas Corner Keys (with and without hole); Flexi Keys; Straight Connectors; a range of colour-matched Gas Collars and Plugs; Thermobar Interbar and Fittings and Duplex fittings.
