Linear Encoders

A linear encoder is a sensor or transducer paired with a scale that encodes position. Optical technologies include shadow, self-imaging and interferometric. The main function of laser encoder is to obtain measurements. Linear encoder technologies include optical, magnetic, inductive, capacitive and eddy current. The main laser encoders used for measurement are coordinate-measuring machines (CMM), laser scanners, callipers, gear measurement, tension testers, and digital read outs (DROs). The main laser encoders used in determining motion are machine tool, as well as robotics, and in a range of pick-and-place PCB assembly equipment. Main laser encoders are also used as semiconductors handling and test equipment, printers, wire bonders, and digital presses. Linear encoders are used in the fields of aerospace, metrology, automotive, electronics, industrial or medical applications.
