Pulleys

The two main types of pulleys are timing belt pulleys and vee belt pulleys. All pulleys should be manufactured in accordance with ISO and RMA standards to ensure high quality belt performance. Pulleys significantly increase belt life. Timing belt pulleys use either a synchronised or timing belt and can cover torque HTD drives and high speed drives. For power transmission applications, Vee belt pulleys are commonly used. Timing belt pulleys tend to be available in metric and imperial versions with either a taper or pilot bore. Usually supplied with retaining flanges, timing belt pulleys come in aluminium, steel, cast iron and plastic. Vee belt pulleys are most commonly found in steel and cast iron and are available in pilot or taper bore variants. Both timer belt and Vee belt pulleys can be found in a wide range of machinery. As well as increasing the longevity of a machine belt, when combined with timing belt software, optimum drive performance is achievable.
