Wipers
Wipers, also commonly known as wiper seals, dust seals and excluders, are seals that are put into place on the external side of a cylinder head. Hydraulic cylinders are used in various applications, many in adverse conditions. As with any assembly, contaminants such as dust and debris can be a real problem and can greatly impact on performance. Wipers ensure that such contamination does not occur. Wipers, or dust excluders, come in various sizes and types, but regardless of their individual specification, essentially all wipers have the same function and they carry out this function in the same way. They maintain contact with the piston rod when it is stationary or in use, preventing any contaminants to be transferred to the cylinder itself. As wipers provide static sealing and dynamic sealing, they are essential components in a vast number of machinery applications.
