Hex Nuts

Hex nuts are the most common type of nut, seen in various applications both in domestic and industrial settings. Like all nuts, hex nuts have internal threads. Hex nuts screw onto the bolt shank, or can be used with a hex cap screw. The six-sided hexagonical shape of the nut makes them easy to fasten, even in tight spaces. Hex nuts come in a wide variety of sizes and material types. Hex nuts and hex machine screw nuts are most commonly found in steel versions, either stainless steel but particularly carbon steel, which has the best corrosion resistance. Zinc, nylon and aluminium are other popular materials used for particular environments. Hex nuts are used widely in the household and for industry. Zinc hex nuts are often seen in electrical appliances. Aluminium is often used in outdoor applications and nylon is often used in gears and machine screws.
