Drilling

Drilling is a cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut a hole into solid materials. The hole is created by a circular cross-section that rotates at rates from hundreds to thousands of revolutions per minute. The types of drilling include spot drilling, centre drilling, gun drilling, trepanning, microdrilling, vibration drilling, and circle interpolating. Materials that these drilling processes are applied on include wood, metal, and plastic. There are a variety of drill styles each serving a different purpose. The subland drill is capable of drilling more than one diameter, the spade drill is used to drill larger hole sizes while the indexable drill is good in managing chips. Drilling is common in the manufacturing industry, as well as being a common form of DIY and technique practiced amongst hobbyists.
