Production Engineering

Production engineering combines manufacturing technology and engineering science with management science. Production engineering is a science used to achieve a production process in a smooth, adequate and economical way. Metal cutting and tool design, machining systems, automation, vehicle design, material science and castings are just some of the uses that production engineering is involved in. This specialised branch of engineering crosses over into manufacturing and industrial engineering. Production engineering is utilised in a number of manufacturing industries, for example, the clothing industry, and development of aeroplanes as well as the car and food industry. Production engineering is necessary in both public and private sector manufacturing organisations that are involved in the application, development and management of new processes.
