    Environmental Stress Screening
    Environmental Stress Testing is sometimes also known as acceptance testing or product screening. It is a method used by many companies during the research and development of products to ensure that they will be able to withstand temperature changes and vibration. The product is subjected to thermal and vibration stress and the response analysed. If faults emerge then the product is modified until a robust model is achieved.

    Filtering orders is a method of signal analysis similar to sine sweeping or rotor dynamics analysis. Filtering orders involves the application of a bandpass tracking filter that removes and blocks out the signals and harmonics of no interest to your testing and isolates those that must be analysed. The technique is of particular use during research and development and quality validation of specific component just installed into a mechanism.

    Modal Analysis and Operating Deflection Shape
    Operating Deflection Shape Analysis is the assessment of structural vibration in rotating machinery, and reveals levels of deformation within machinery when operating at a specific frequency. Modal Analysis is a similar process that tests the resonance frequencies of a structure after being excited with a known force. Both are techniques used for the assessment of the performance of rotating machinery in the process, power generation, electronics, and automotive industries.

  6. Multi Frequency Sine Testing

    Multi Frequency Sine Testing
    Engine mounted automotive components such as heat shields, fuel lines, brackets, sensors and actuators are subject to fairly consistent levels of vibration during use. They require durability testing during the production phase to ensure they will be able to withstand the vibration without developing faults. This is achieved through cyclic vibration testing over long periods.

    As fatigue emerges in the components when they reach their resonance frequency and the various components possess different resonance frequencies the method of testing utilised is multi frequency sine sweeping.     An order is a harmonic derived from rotating speed machinery - analysis of these orders is an important technique for analysing and monitoring the performance of rotating machinery such as engines, turbines, compressors and generators. Order analysis also allows for the identification and isolation of one sound pattern amongst many to therefore monitor the performance of one particular component.

    Piping Analysis
    Excessive vibration within piping moving liquids and gases around a power station or factory can lead to fatigue or wear, especially in the supports and connections between two pieces of pipe. Cracking or splits are particularly dangerous in nuclear power generation and in turbomachinery. Stress within piping can be caused by pressure problems, fluid flow or rotating machinery stress.
