  1. Military and Defence

    Military and Defence
At Data Physics we know that the defence and military hardware industry must conduct the most thorough and wide-ranging assessments and analysis of its vehicles, weaponry, and munitions for sensitivity to vibrations, shock and noise before it can supply them to customers. We provide high performance analysis and measurement instruments and solutions, tailored for use by defence and military ware manufacturers.

Our SignalCalc Dynamic Signal Analysers are designed for acoustic and vibration testing and have previously been used by leading US submarine facilities. Our Signal Analysers enable the testing of electronics, munitions and vehicles for robustness and durability, whilst our range of Underwater Sound Source and Measurement products is for use in military shipping for the calibration of sonar ranges and signalling.

  2. Minesweeping

    Minesweeping
Minesweeping systems are used by naval vessels for the purpose of detecting and nullifying the threat of mines in the sea. Here at Data Physics we provide high performance minesweeping systems based on acoustic testing technology - our SignalSound Underwater Acoustic Systems can be used on minesweeping operations over long periods of time.

Our systems provide high power, extremely low frequency acoustic projection as part of minesweeping systems. Our low frequency underwater projectors operate at frequencies of 4 Hz at their lowest, and up to 1 kHz at their highest.

  3. Modal Analysis and Operating Deflection Shape

Modal Analysis and Operating Deflection Shape
Operating Deflection Shape Analysis is the assessment of structural vibration in rotating machinery, and reveals levels of deformation within machinery when operating at a specific frequency. Modal Analysis is a similar process that tests the resonance frequencies of a structure after being excited with a known force. Both are techniques used for the assessment of the performance of rotating machinery in the process, power generation, electronics, and automotive industries.

At Data Physics we can supply our high performance SignalForce Modal and Inertial Shakers and SignalCalc Dynamic Signal Analysers for modal and operating deflection shape analysis. Our equipment provides excellent results and data processing to locate structural weaknesses within machinery.

For more details regarding our instruments for use in Modal Analysis and Operating Deflection Shape Analysis, please feel free to contact us.
  4. Modal and Operating Deflection Shape Testing

Modal and Operating Deflection Shape Testing
Every product, component and structure will provide a dynamic response to noise, vibration and stress testing and emit natural frequencies and mode shapes. Modal and Operating Deflection Shape Testing (ODS) is the analysis and assessment of these responses during the design process during quality verification and modification. Modal analysis and ODS is used across various industries, ranging from academic research and development, to automotive manufacturing.

ODS, in particular, is an advanced form of modal analysis and shows the deformation of structures when subjected to vibration and stress testing at known frequencies. At Data Physics we provide high performance testing equipment with data processing platforms for modal analysis and ODS. Our SignalCalc Dynamic Signal Analysers provide a high dynamic range and excellent phase matching capability.

  5. Multi Frequency Sine Testing

    Multi Frequency Sine Testing
Engine mounted automotive components such as heat shields, fuel lines, brackets, sensors and actuators are subject to fairly consistent levels of vibration during use. They require durability testing during the production phase to ensure they will be able to withstand the vibration without developing faults. This is achieved through cyclic vibration testing over long periods.

As fatigue emerges in the components when they reach their resonance frequency and the various components possess different resonance frequencies the method of testing utilised is multi frequency sine sweeping. Here at Data Physics our SignalStar Vibration Controllers can be fitted with software for highly accurate multi frequency sine testing at consistently high performance levels.

For more information on our range of equipment for Multi Frequency Sine Testing, please contact us.
  6. Multi Shaker Testing

    Multi Shaker Testing
When testing engineering structures and materials for quality and resilience the most realistic vibration environment must be created, and this means using multiple sources and multiple directions of vibration. This way the product can be tested for quality and robustness in a manner close to the circumstances in which it will be deployed. This form of testing is particularly useful in the aerospace and civil engineering industries.

Here at Data Physics we provide high accuracy multi shaker equipment in the form of the SignalStar Matrix Controller Multi Shaker for multi-axis seismic testing, single axis testing, and multiple degree of freedom testing. Our multi shakers can produce far more detailed analysis and data than single shakers.

For more information on our Multi Shaker Testing equipment, please contact us.
  7. Normal Mode Testing

    Normal Mode Testing
Normal Mode Testing is a method employed in the aerospace and civil engineering industries for the vibration testing of aircraft and other large engineering structures and installations. Sometimes known as appropriated excitation testing, the technique utilises multiple forces to excite a structure at a particular resonance frequency. The amplitude and phasing of the force is then tuned to create a single mode that can be isolated and assessed.

At Data Physics we provide the high performance SignalCalc Dynamic Signal Analyser for the carrying out of Normal Mode Testing. The signal analyser provides a platform for modal analysis for aerospace and engineering firms.

  8. Oceanographic

    Oceanographic
At Data Physics we supply underwater measuring and sound source analysis instruments for use in oceanographic and marine science research. Our signal analysers and underwater acoustics testing systems provide the highest possible accuracy and consistent performance. Part of Data Physics is Gearing and Watson, who have been creating underwater products since 1973.

Our range of underwater products includes signal generators and measurement systems, sound sources, transducers, sonar products, and low frequency underwater projectors. Configurations available include towable systems, hull mounted analysers, seabed installations, and free-ranging installations with built-in GPS.

  9. Off-Highway Machinery

    Off-Highway Machinery
Off-highway machinery includes construction vehicles and equipment, agricultural vehicles, ATVs such as quad-bikes, snowmobiles, and 4 x 4 buggies. Many such vehicles are tightly regulated by legislative bodies such as the EU, and must be sufficiently robust and tough to function in extreme conditions and difficult terrains.

At Data Physics we supply the necessary high performance testing equipment to ensure the machinery meets the necessary noise, vibration and harshness standards. We can provide high quality Electrodynamic Shakers, Vibration Controllers, and Signal Analysers for the purposes of research and development, product testing and quality verification.

If you need more information regarding our analysis and testing instruments for use on off-road machinery, please contact us.
  10. Order Analysis

    Order Analysis
An order is a harmonic derived from rotating speed machinery - analysis of these orders is an important technique for analysing and monitoring the performance of rotating machinery such as engines, turbines, compressors and generators. Order analysis also allows for the identification and isolation of one sound pattern amongst many to therefore monitor the performance of one particular component.

Here at Data Physics we provide the high performance SignalCalc Dynamic Signal Analyser for vibration order analysis. Our analysers can be adapted for use in component quality checks and verification, research and development, and fault diagnostics.

For more information relating to our Order Analysis equipment, please do not hesitate to contact us.
